The Black & White Series (2011–2013) introduced Generation V and the Unova region — and reintroduced Pokémon-EX, the powerful two-Prize cards that would shape the game for the next decade.
Beginning with the Black & White base set in April 2011 and running through 2013 across 11 expansions, the era tied in with Pokémon Black and White and their sequels. It popularised striking Full Art cards, the powerful one-per-deck ACE SPEC Trainers, and the Team Plasma storyline that ran through its later sets.
