Privacy Policy

Who we are

Our website address is: https://pokemondungeon.com.

Member accounts

You can create a free member account to share your fan art and stories. When you sign up we store your member name, your email address and your password (stored encrypted, so nobody at Pokémon Dungeon can read it). We ask for your date of birth only to check that you’re 13 or over: we don’t keep the date itself, just a note that the check was passed and when you agreed to the community guidelines.

Your public profile shows your member name, the month you joined, your badges, how many pieces you’ve shared and how many times they’ve been viewed, plus a short bio and links if you choose to add them. Your email address is never shown on the site. We use it to confirm your account and to tell you when a moderator has approved or declined something you’ve shared. If an email address isn’t confirmed within 48 hours, the account is deleted automatically.

Artwork and stories you share

Everything you share is checked by a moderator before it appears on the site. Uploaded images are saved again by our server, which removes hidden information such as location (GPS) data, and they’re kept out of public view until they’re approved. If a moderator declines something, the image or story text is deleted from our server. Approved work is shown with your member name as the credit.

Security checks and view counts

To keep out spam and automated sign-ups, our sign-up, sharing and contact forms use Cloudflare Turnstile, a security check that looks at information about your browser and connection. Cloudflare’s privacy policy is at cloudflare.com/privacypolicy. We also keep short-lived counters linked to your IP address to limit repeated sign-ups and failed log-ins; these expire automatically.

We count how many times members’ galleries and stories are viewed so we can show the total on their profile. Only the total is kept: the record we use to avoid counting the same visitor twice in a day expires within a day and isn’t linked to any account, and your browser keeps a small note in its local storage for the same reason.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account at any time from your account page. Your account details and profile are deleted straight away, and your gallery and stories are taken off the site. If you’d also like the image files you shared removed from our server, or would like a copy of the information we hold about you, please contact us.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select "Remember Me", your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Advertising

Pokémon Dungeon is free to read because it shows ads from Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this website and other websites. Google’s advertising cookies let it and its partners show you ads based on your visits to this site and other sites on the internet.

You can opt out of personalised advertising in Google’s My Ad Center, and you can read how Google uses information from sites that use its services. If you visit from the UK, the European Economic Area or Switzerland, Google asks for your consent before personalised ads or advertising cookies are used.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used, such as which pages are popular, how visitors find us and what kind of device they use. Google Analytics records things like the pages you visit, your approximate location (country or city), your device and browser, and how you arrived at the site. We only see totals, not individual visitors, and Google Analytics doesn’t store IP addresses. In the UK, the European Economic Area and Switzerland, Google Analytics only uses cookies if you agree. You can opt out on every website with Google’s opt-out browser add-on.

Your privacy choices

Visitors from the UK, the European Economic Area and Switzerland see a consent message from Google on their first visit. You can change your choice at any time with the Privacy choices link in the footer of every page. Our Cookie Policy lists every cookie the site uses and how long each one lasts.

Who we share your data with

We use Google for advertising and analytics, and Cloudflare for security checks, as described above. We never sell your personal information.

If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where your data is sent

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
