The Platinum Series (2009) was a tight, four-set era tying in with Pokémon Platinum. It leaned on Pokémon SP — Team Galactic’s and rivals’ specialised Pokémon — and brought back the game-swinging Pokémon LV.X cards.
Across its four expansions the series introduced Arceus as a headline card and refined the mechanics of the Diamond & Pearl era it grew out of, closing Generation IV’s first phase before the Johto remakes took over.
