Supreme Victors was the Platinum series at its most ambitious: a sprawling 153-card set — the largest of the era — released in August 2009. It completed the grand Pokémon SP project the series had been building toward, gathering the trainers at the very top of the Sinnoh world.
Platinum had given SP cards to Team Galactic; Rising Rivals to the Gym Leaders and Elite Four. Supreme Victors crowned the set with the last two families: Pokémon C, belonging to the Sinnoh League Champion Cynthia herself, and Pokémon FB, wielded by the Frontier Brains of the Battle Frontier. Every one of the set’s seven Pokémon LV.X was a Pokémon SP.
And two of them, played together, would go on to define an entire era.
Ultimate Challenges… Supreme Victors!
Increase your power with impressive new Pokémon that will take you to the pinnacle of Pokémon battles—the Battle Frontier! In the Pokémon TCG: Platinum—Supreme Victors expansion, you’ll find more sizzling Pokémon SP like Blaziken, more ferocious Pokémon LV.X like Charizard LV.X, and more opportunities to battle your way to the top! Your victory will be supreme when you play with Pokémon trained by Team Galactic, the Frontier Brains, and the Sinnoh League Champion!
— official Supreme Victors expansion blurb
The Champion and the Frontier Brains
By Supreme Victors, the Pokémon SP roster was complete. Champion Cynthia’s Pokémon carried the “C” mark; the Battle Frontier’s Frontier Brains carried “FB.” Trainers named for those very characters — Cynthia’s Guidance, Palmer’s Contribution, Champion’s Room — rounded out the theme.
Its crown jewel was Garchomp C LV.X (145), Cynthia’s signature dragon. Its Healing Breath Poké-Power wiped every damage counter off all of your Pokémon SP the instant it levelled up — a full-team heal — and Dragon Rush sniped 80 damage onto any Pokémon on the board. Paired with Rising Rivals’ Luxray GL LV.X, it formed “LuxChomp,” the defining deck of the 2009–2010 seasons and one of the most dominant archetypes the game has ever seen.
The Frontier Brains’ flagship was Blaziken FB LV.X (142). Its Burning Spirit Poké-Body cranked up all damage dealt to Burned Pokémon by 40, and Jet Shoot hit for 80 while leaving foes exposed — a fast, aggressive attacker that rewarded a Fire-and-burn game plan.
Garchomp C LV.X (145/147)
Champion Cynthia’s dragon, and half of the legendary LuxChomp deck. Healing Breath removes every damage counter from all your Pokémon SP on level-up, and Dragon Rush snipes 80 to any Pokémon.
Blaziken FB LV.X (142/147)
The Frontier Brains’ fiery flagship. Burning Spirit adds 40 damage to anything Burned, and Jet Shoot swings for 80 — a fast aggressor built around a Fire-and-burn plan.
Print Versions
Supreme Victors came in four booster arts — Garchomp, Rayquaza, Charizard and Absol — each fronting one of the set’s Pokémon SP. Every pack held a shot at those seven LV.X toppers, plus the set’s secret rares and Shiny Pokémon.

Seven Pokémon LV.X
All seven of Supreme Victors’ Pokémon LV.X were Pokémon SP, and beyond the LuxChomp pair they ran the gamut from Team Galactic’s fire-breathers to the Champion’s legendary dragon.
Rayquaza C LV.X (146), a second Cynthia card, was a glass-cannon monster. Its Dragon Spirit Poké-Body pulled Energy from the discard whenever it survived a hit, and Final Blowup swung for a staggering 200 damage — normally discarding all its Energy, unless your hand was empty, a quirk that spawned its own dedicated “empty-hand” decks.
Charizard G LV.X (143), one of Team Galactic’s, was a fan-favourite bruiser. Call for Power let it hoover Energy off your other Pokémon as often as you liked, feeding Malevolent Fire’s massive 150-damage blast — with just a coin flip standing between you and keeping all that Energy attached.
Rayquaza C LV.X (146/147)
Cynthia’s glass cannon. Dragon Spirit reattaches Energy from the discard when it survives a hit, and Final Blowup hits for a huge 200 — discarding all Energy unless your hand is empty.
Charizard G LV.X (143/147)
A Team Galactic fan-favourite. Call for Power funnels Energy from your other Pokémon onto Charizard G, powering Malevolent Fire’s 150-damage blast on a single coin flip.
Staples, Birds and Shinies
Not every important card in Supreme Victors was a topper. VS Seeker (140) looked unassuming, but by letting you pull any Supporter back out of your discard pile, it turned every used Supporter into a reusable resource — a quietly powerful staple players would chase across formats for years.
Deeper in the set sat its collector bait. The three legendary birds — Articuno (148), Moltres (149) and Zapdos (150) — returned as secret rares, and a trio of Shiny Pokémon — Milotic, Relicanth and Yanma (SH7–SH9) — capped the set as its rarest, shimmering pulls.
VS Seeker (140/147)
A deceptively powerful staple. It fetches any Supporter back from your discard pile — turning every used Supporter into a reusable one, a trick competitive players prized for years.
Shiny Milotic (SH7)
One of three Shiny secret cards — alternate-coloured Milotic, Relicanth and Yanma — hidden at the very end of the set for the most dedicated collectors.
For Collectors: Most Valuable Cards
Supreme Victors’ value concentrates in its six Lv.X cards (#142-147) plus shiny and legendary-bird secret rares. Raw copies stay affordable, but gem-mint PSA 10s are genuinely scarce and reach four- and five-figure prices, led by the Rayquaza C and Charizard G Lv.X chase cards.
Most Powerful Cards (Competitive Play)
This set was the engine room of 2009-2011 ‘SP’ Pokemon. Its Lv.X toolbox pieces defined format-warping decks like LuxChomp and Sablelock, supplying snipe attackers, free gust disruption and universal healing that made SP the dominant strategy of the era.
Garchomp C Lv.X (LuxChomp / universal SP tech)
Dragon Rush sniped 80 to any Pokemon while Healing Breath wiped all damage off every SP Pokemon on level-up; paired with Energy Gain, Poke Turn and DCE it was the glue of nearly every top SP deck.
Rayquaza C Lv.X (Sablelock finisher)
Final Blowup hit for 200, and the Dragon Spirit Poke-Body re-attached Energy from the discard when it survived a hit, making it the one-shot closer for Sableye-fueled Sablelock builds.
Blaziken FB / Blaziken FB Lv.X (gust disruption engine)
The basic’s Luring Flame Poke-Power dragged a Benched Pokemon into the Active spot for free every turn, a Catcher-like effect years early, while the Lv.X added an 80-damage Jet Shoot punch.
Electivire FB Lv.X (SP toolbox counter-attacker)
A splashable Lightning attacker that let SP decks punish Water-weak threats like Kingdra, Gyarados and Empoleon plus Luxray GL, covering matchups the main attackers struggled with.
Trivia
- Supreme Victors was the third and largest set of the Platinum series, with 153 cards.
- It completed the Pokémon SP project, introducing Pokémon C (Champion Cynthia’s) and Pokémon FB (the Frontier Brains’).
- Garchomp C LV.X and Rising Rivals’ Luxray GL LV.X together formed “LuxChomp,” one of the most dominant decks in the game’s history.
- VS Seeker, which recycles a Supporter from the discard pile, debuted here and became a lasting competitive staple.
- The set closed with secret-rare legendary birds (Articuno, Moltres and Zapdos) and three Shiny Pokémon (SH7–SH9).
