HS—Undaunted, the third set of the HeartGold & SoulSilver series, landed in August 2010 and leaned hard into the mechanics the series had introduced. Where the base set gave us solo Pokémon LEGENDs and Unleashed paired up the legendary beasts, Undaunted turned to the great legendaries of Hoenn — and to a family of fan-favourite Eeveelutions.
Its 90-card lineup was compact but potent: two more two-card Pokémon LEGEND, six new Pokémon Prime (several of them Eevee’s evolutions), and a clutch of Trainer and Stadium cards built to make the whole system hum.
The theme was right there in the tagline — no challenge too great.
No Challenge Too Great, No Battle Too Fierce: HS—Undaunted
The greatest Trainers are those who are fearless in the face of battle. And that’s you! In the Pokémon TCG: HS—Undaunted expansion, you’ll discover battle-ready Pokémon just waiting to be summoned by the fearless Trainer in you! The powerful Rayquaza and Deoxys become a Pokémon LEGEND to be reckoned with…six Pokémon—from Raichu to Umbreon to Slowking—join the ranks of Pokémon Prime…and Stadium cards like the Ruins of Alph and Trainer cards like Legend Box change every player’s strategy.
— official HS—Undaunted expansion blurb
Legends of Hoenn
Undaunted’s two Pokémon LEGEND both reached back to the Hoenn region’s mightiest Pokémon. Rayquaza & Deoxys LEGEND (89 and 90) fused the sky-serpent and the space virus into a single two-card behemoth. Its Space Virus Poké-Body stole an extra Prize card every time it Knocked something out, and Ozone Buster hammered for 150 — a card that could end games in a hurry.
Kyogre & Groudon LEGEND (87 and 88), meanwhile, put the primal duo together and made a gamble of it. Mega Tidal Wave and Massive Eruption both discarded cards off the top of a deck and dealt damage based on the Energy revealed — high-risk, high-reward attacks that could swing wildly from turn to turn.
Like every Pokémon LEGEND, each was assembled from two cards played together and handed the opponent two Prizes when it fell — a real commitment, but a spectacular payoff.
Rayquaza & Deoxys LEGEND (89 & 90/90)
A two-card Hoenn behemoth. Space Virus steals an extra Prize on every Knock Out, and Ozone Buster swings for 150 — a card built to close games fast.
Kyogre & Groudon LEGEND (87 & 88/90)
The primal duo, and a gamble. Mega Tidal Wave and Massive Eruption discard cards off the top of a deck and deal damage scaled to the Energy revealed — wild, high-reward swings.
Print Versions
Undaunted came in four booster arts — Rayquaza, Jolteon, Houndoom and Skarmory. Every pack was a shot at a piece of a Pokémon LEGEND, one of the six Pokémon Prime, or the set’s hidden Alph Lithograph.

The Eeveelution Primes
Undaunted’s six Pokémon Prime — Espeon, Houndoom, Raichu, Scizor, Slowking and Umbreon — leaned heavily on Johto’s Eeveelutions, and two of them were built to work together.
Espeon Prime (81) was the glue. Its Evolution Memories Poké-Body let it borrow the attacks of every one of your Pokémon that evolves from Eevee — so a bench stocked with different Eeveelutions became a toolbox of options funnelled through a single attacker.
Umbreon Prime (86) added muscle and evasion. Its Evoblast attack grew stronger for each Eevee-evolution you had in play, and its Cloud-Covered Moon Poké-Power let it flip a coin to bounce itself back to your hand, dodging a knockout at the last moment — a slippery, frustrating card to play against.
Espeon Prime (81/90)
The Eeveelution glue. Evolution Memories lets Espeon use the attacks of every one of your Eevee evolutions — turning a varied Bench into a single flexible attacker.
Umbreon Prime (86/90)
Muscle and evasion. Evoblast hits harder for each Eevee-evolution in play, and Cloud-Covered Moon flips to bounce Umbreon back to hand, slipping out of a knockout.
Powering the LEGENDs
Two of Undaunted’s Trainers existed specifically to make its headline mechanic sing. Legend Box (75) solved the biggest problem with Pokémon LEGEND — getting both halves into play at once. It dug ten cards deep, dropped a complete LEGEND straight onto your Bench if it found both halves, and attached any Energy it revealed along the way.
Ruins of Alph (76), a Stadium tied to Johto’s mysterious ruins, quietly stripped Resistance from every Pokémon in play — a subtle but real tweak that could turn a blocked attack into a clean knockout, and a nod to the Unown-filled ruins the set’s secret Alph Lithograph celebrated.
Legend Box (75/90)
The enabler for Pokémon LEGEND. It digs ten cards deep, drops a full two-card LEGEND straight onto your Bench if both halves show up, and attaches any Energy it reveals.
Ruins of Alph (76/90)
A quietly useful Stadium: every Pokémon in play loses its Resistance — often just enough to turn a blocked hit into a clean knockout.
For Collectors: Most Valuable Cards
Undaunted (HS3, Aug 2010) is defined by its Pokémon Prime chase cards, and surging Eeveelution demand makes Umbreon and Espeon Prime the set’s crown jewels — both command four- to five-figure sums in gem-mint PSA 10.
Alph Lithograph (Secret Rare) (#91/90)
The set’s lone secret rare, a unique Trainer numbered beyond the 90-card base set; raw copies sell around $55 and command more in PSA 10.
Most Powerful Cards (Competitive Play)
In the 2010-2011 HGSS-on Modified format, Undaunted delivered both disruption engines and consistency staples. Vileplume’s item lock warped deckbuilding format-wide, Smeargle became a near-universal starter, and the Eeveelution Primes anchored real archetypes.
