The Clumsy Crier Quiets the Chaos! is the 45th episode of Pokémon the Series: XY, the seventeenth season of the Pokémon anime, and the 840th episode of the English dub overall (Japanese episode 846, Bulbapedia code XY046). It first aired in Japan on 9 October 2014 and in the United States on 29 November 2014. It falls within the season’s Shalour City & the road to Coumarine stretch (EP43–EP49).
Synopsis
A clumsy Wigglytuff training as Nurse Joy’s assistant proves its worth by calming a rampaging Salamence that Team Rocket tried to control. In a cave Team Rocket attach a hypnosis device to a sleeping Salamence, but it soon rages out of control, blasts Meowth and Pumpkaboo away and flies off.
At a Pokémon Center overflowing with injured Pokémon, Nurse Joy’s new Wigglytuff keeps tripping and scattering Poké Balls, and feels like a failure. A Pokémon Breeder explains that a Salamence in pain attacked everyone, and Joy tells the legend of a Wigglytuff that once calmed rampaging Flygon and healed the wounded, which is why every Kalos Pokémon Center has one. Clemont’s Mechanized Motivator only explodes.
Team Rocket, disguised as paramedics, carry off Pikachu and Wigglytuff in an Electric-proof van until the berserk Salamence blows it into the air. Wigglytuff blocks Salamence’s Flamethrower with Protect, walks unharmed through Dragon Breath and calms it with Heal Pulse; Ash removes the device, and Team Rocket are blasted away. Nurse Joy asks Wigglytuff to stay on as her assistant.
