Filler / stand-alone episodeKecleon – first Gen III Pokémon
The Kecleon Caper is the 48th episode of Pokémon: Johto League Champions, the fourth season of the Pokémon anime, and the 205th episode of the English dub overall (Japanese episode 207, Bulbapedia code EP205). It first aired in Japan on 5 July 2001 and in the United States on 17 August 2002. It falls within the season’s Festivals, balloons & the first Gen III Pokémon stretch (EP201–EP207).
Synopsis
Two colour-changing Kecleon turn a luxury airship into a game of hide-and-seek with Team Rocket after they swallow a stolen jewellery box. The gang volunteer their first-aid skills aboard the Leviathan Two, where wealthy sisters Madison and Alexa are worried about their listless Kecleon, Reddy and Greeny; Brock diagnoses motion sickness and his homemade food perks them up.
Team Rocket, unable to work out how to fly the blimp, settle for burgling the sisters’ stateroom, until Greeny’s tongue snatches the jewellery box and both Kecleon vanish into the ship’s corridors, Reddy carrying a passenger’s first-aid kit. Pikachu spots tell-tale red zigzags on walls and ceilings, Brock chases Greeny over the top of the airship, and the Kecleon juggle boxes between their mouths so fast that the trio lose track of which holds the jewels. Weezing’s Smokescreen covers one escape and Noctowl clears it.
Cornered on deck, the Kecleon face Team Rocket alongside the gang. Arbok’s Headbutt answers Bayleef’s missed Vine Whip and meets Poliwhirl’s own Headbutt; Reddy’s Lick halts Arbok’s Wrap and releases the box, Poliwhirl Double Slaps Meowth away from it, Greeny Licks Victreebel, and twin Psybeams drive the Rocket Pokémon back before Bayleef’s Vine Whip hurls the trio off. The first-aid kit goes back to its owner and the Leviathan Two sails on.
