Synopsis
At Monsieur Pierre’s dance party for Performers, Serena hopes to dance with Ash, and when the two team up in a Tag Battle against Miette and James, her Eevee evolves into Sylveon. After a stop at a Pokémon Center, Serena finds a video invitation from Pierre: every Performer must bring a date, and Aria will attend as his guest. Serena glances shyly at Ash, but he suggests pairing Eevee with Bunnelby instead, and Bonnie volunteers Clemont as Serena’s partner. At the mansion gate, Miette appears and asks Ash to be her date; he agrees, to Serena’s dismay, and Miette’s Slurpuff drags Pikachu in after him. Team Rocket sneak in too, with Jessie claiming James as her date. Guests choose formal clothes from a lavish rental wardrobe, and the Pokémon get bow ties and tiaras. Eevee is anxious amid the crowd as Pierre and Aria open the ball, and Aria smiles at Serena.
On the dance floor, Serena teaches Clemont to dance, Slurpuff whirls Pikachu around, and Ash steps on Miette’s dress, while Jessie hurls James across the floor and Meowth and Wobbuffet raid the buffet. When Pierre calls for partner switches, Serena dances with a young man in red and then with James, while Ash is paired with Aria, who tells him to relax. At last Serena is paired with Ash, but the music stops just before their hands meet, leaving her disappointed and Ash puzzled. Pierre then announces a Tag Battle as the main event, with competitors chosen by cards that reveal symbols when held to the light: Ash and Serena draw crowns and team up against Miette and James. Pikachu and Eevee face Slurpuff and Inkay, and Miette’s Cotton Spore traps both while Inkay’s Psybeam leaves Eevee collapsed.
Pikachu takes a Tackle meant for Eevee, and Eevee recovers to shield Pikachu in turn, but another Psybeam sends her flying back to Serena. Serena tells Eevee that her smile gives others strength and that she wants to be Eevee’s strength in return. A ribbon-like feeler wraps around Serena’s wrist, and Eevee evolves into Sylveon, whose Fairy Wind slams Slurpuff and Inkay into a wall and wins the battle. Clemont explains that the evolution came from Eevee’s closeness to its Trainer. Pierre announces that the next Showcase will be held in Fleurrh City, and Miette and Serena agree to settle their rivalry there. In her room, Aria video-chats with Palermo, who says she has found a promising candidate before a butler interrupts. Aria resolves to work harder with Delphox, and the next day the group passes a poster of Aria and continues towards Snowbelle City.
