It first aired in Japan on 14 January 2016 and in the United States on 23 April 2016. It falls within the season’s Couriway, Terminus Cave & Sylveon stretch (EP101–EP105).
Synopsis
Bonnie’s desperate search for the missing Squishy leads Bunnelby to get hurt saving her, and when she climbs a cliff alone to fetch the medicine it needs, Squishy secretly helps her and then returns to her bag of its own accord. The search turns up nothing, and that night at camp Bonnie is too worried to eat. Clemont reasons that Squishy’s unusual nature is why Team Flare want it, and when Bonnie runs off into the dark he stops her; she breaks down in his arms and he promises they will search again at daybreak. Watching from a cliff, Squishy receives a warning from Z2 that the destruction of Kalos is under way and that it should stay away from humans, but it wants to keep observing them. Team Flare Grunts watch the group and report to Bryony and Celosia in a surveillance van. In the morning Clemont unveils a robot designed to find places where Squishy is likely to be.
The machine races off into Team Rocket’s resting place, where it jumps from one member to the next, chasing a Zygarde Cell they cannot see, until Jessie kicks it, sending it haywire into the trees and stirring something that roars. The battered robot returns to the group and explodes, angering a band of Toxicroak, whose Mud Bomb collides with Bunnelby’s Mud Shot. Fleeing, the friends run off a cliff: Clemont’s Aipom Arm catches a branch and the group forms a chain, but Bonnie keeps falling until Bunnelby leaps from Clemont’s bag, catches her and slides down the cliffside, badly bruising itself. Bonnie blames herself. At the Pokémon Center, Nurse Joy says Bunnelby will recover but she has run out of Nicera, a medicinal plant, and she is called away before she can fetch more. Clemont soon realises that Bonnie has slipped out alone to find it.
Bonnie climbs a cliff, survives a collapsing ledge and is chased by three Scolipede, whose Poison Sting is blocked by Pikachu’s Electro Ball and Braixen’s Flamethrower. Clemont scolds her, then explains that Bunnelby helped her because it saw how much Squishy means to her. Team Rocket seize Pikachu with a robotic hand, and Greninja’s Water Shuriken and Braixen’s Flamethrower bring their balloon down; Ash and Serena defeat Gourgeist and Inkay with Thunderbolt, Water Shuriken and Fire Blast, blasting the trio off. Meanwhile Clemont and Bonnie find the Nicera tree, but even with Bonnie on Clemont’s shoulders Dedenne cannot reach it, until Squishy, watching from above, bends the plant within reach. Bunnelby makes a full recovery, and as the group prepares to resume the search, Bonnie finds Squishy curled up in the pocket of her bag. It nods when she asks if it will travel with them again, and they set off for Snowbelle City.
