Synopsis
Squishy leads the group into Terminus Cave, where Team Flare ambush it, and both Squishy and Ash’s Greninja reveal their transformed powers before Squishy slips away from the group altogether. Inside the abandoned mine, Squishy suddenly leaps out of Bonnie’s bag and races down a passageway. Braixen lights the way and the group crawls through the tunnels after it until Squishy drops through a gap in the floor. Clemont stops Bonnie from following, Noibat scouts ahead and Luxray’s X-ray vision finds another route, while Team Rocket trail behind. In a cavern, Squishy contacts Z2 telepathically, unaware of a hidden tracking device; Team Flare Grunts intercept the signal, locate Z2 and alert Xerosic, who sets off with Mable and Aliana. Squishy warns Z2 to flee and then vanishes into the water just as Bonnie arrives, while Bryony and Celosia enter the cave, bickering about Bryony’s lateness.
Team Flare open fire, Drapion’s Sludge Bomb warning Ash and Bonnie to stay still, and a scout spots Squishy hiding on a stalactite. It drops into the water, but the Grunts keep firing until it is driven out, and Ash shields Bonnie from another Sludge Bomb. Clemont and Serena battle the Grunts’ Pokémon, Noibat confuses Drapion and lands a new Tackle, and Team Rocket muscle in to grab Squishy before Greninja snatches it free. As Bonnie vows to protect it, Squishy glows, gathers the surrounding Zygarde Cells and transforms into its 10% Forme, blowing both villainous teams away. Ash is astonished by the power of the creature he has been travelling with. Squishy then escapes while Greninja and Pikachu hold off Celosia’s and Bryony’s Pokémon, but Manectric’s Thunderbolt strikes Greninja hard.
As the two scientists advance, Greninja powers up and transforms again; Ash commands it, but he feels the blows Greninja suffers as though they were his own. The transformed Greninja sends Manectric and Liepard flying before reverting, and Manectric’s Flash blinds everyone long enough for Team Flare to escape. Outside, Squishy returns to its Core form and disappears. Celosia and Bryony decide to watch Ash’s group in case it leads them to their quarry, and they dismiss Team Rocket as a joke. The friends search fruitlessly, and Bonnie vows to find Squishy, unaware that it is watching her invisibly from nearby. At Lysandre Labs, Lysandre and Xerosic study footage of Squishy merging with its Cells; Xerosic notes that its full power has yet to be seen, and Lysandre asks after Z2, which Team Flare is still tracking.
