Synopsis
The group helps a field-working Nurse Joy patch up her quarrel with her veteran partner Audino, and when Team Rocket raid the Pokémon Center, Professor Sycamore’s Key Stone lets Audino Mega Evolve to save the day. On the way to a Pokémon Center, the friends hear a scream and find a woman whose leg is trapped in a rock fissure. Clemont’s Aipom Arm pries the rock apart, and the grateful woman shows them the Mega Stone she was searching for, then drives them to the Center in an ambulance: she is the local Nurse Joy, and her outfit is her field-work uniform. Team Rocket are already lurking inside, planning to steal patients and Pikachu while the nurse is away. When Nurse Joy reaches her office, she finds the door barricaded from within by her Audino, which refuses to let her in, and she asks the group to wait outside while she sorts it out.
A boy named Emilio explains that the nurse and her Audino have been bickering for some time and shows the group a back window into the office, where Audino is treating a Zigzagoon on its own. Nurse Joy apologises for leaving without telling it, but Audino ignores her. A Trainer then rushes in with an injured Makuhita just as Professor Sycamore arrives, and the two nurses set aside their argument to treat it together. Sycamore tells the group that no researcher he has asked has data on Squishy, and he takes a DNA swab for analysis. Nurse Joy explains that she was disappointed to receive an experienced Audino at graduation while her classmates got Wigglytuff; the Head Nurse chose it because she loses track of her surroundings when she concentrates. Yet she had read Sycamore’s book and spent days searching for an Audinite as a surprise, which his machine confirms the stone to be.
A tremor shakes the building: Team Rocket are using their Giga Giga Meowth Machine to steal the Center’s Poké Balls, and a net traps Ash and Pikachu. Nurse Joy and Audino step forward together, and Sycamore tosses the nurse his Key Stone so she can Mega Evolve her partner. Mega Audino frees Ash and Pikachu with Power-Up Punch, then pummels the mecha with Double Slap, Take Down and another Power-Up Punch until it topples. Its Heal Pulse is so soothing that Team Rocket lose all will to fight and hand back the stolen Poké Balls, and Pikachu’s Thunderbolt sends them blasting off. At sunset the friends urge the two partners to stop arguing, Nurse Joy promises to communicate better with Audino, and Sycamore asks Bonnie to keep looking after Squishy, which she gladly agrees to do as the group sets off towards Snowbelle City.
