Synopsis

At the Anistar Showcase, Serena beats Shauna and Jessie to win her second Princess Key, after the frightened Eevee runs away and Serena nearly gives up her turn to find it. After oversleeping, the group reaches the theatre just in time, and Jessie is running late too. Serena lets Eevee out to watch, but the crowd overwhelms it; Clemont sends out Bunnelby to guard it, though Chespin frightens it again. Monsieur Pierre opens the Rookie Class, and the Theme Performance turns out to be a Pokémon quiz: each Performer’s Pokémon must race to win the right to answer, and the first Performer with three correct answers advances. Nini is competing too, and Serena introduces her to Shauna, whom Nini greatly admires.

In Serena’s group, the Pokémon break open rocks to retrieve a ball. Pancham grabs it first but stumbles, letting Nini’s Farfetch’d across the line, but Nini answers “Espeon” wrongly, and Serena answers “Sylveon” correctly and wins two more questions to advance. Shauna advances when Ivysaur loads a basket of Berries fastest, and Jessie, disguised as “Jessaline,” qualifies after a rival Trainer struggles up a rock face for her scroll. In the Freestyle Performance, Shauna floats through a mist of Fairy Wind sparkles lifted by Ivysaur’s Vine Whip, and Jessie’s Gourgeist casts an eerie shadow before its Seed Bomb bursts into fireworks. The bangs startle Eevee, which falls from its seat and hides under the seats in the foyer. Learning what has happened, Serena begs to search for Eevee, even though missing her turn means disqualification, and refuses to perform while it is lost.

The attendant relents and promises to try to reschedule her. Seeing everyone calling for it and Serena’s worry, Eevee overcomes its fear and runs to her, then encourages her to go on. Introduced as the final Performer, Serena dances with Braixen and Pancham in the style Eevee taught them: Pancham’s Arm Thrust turns Braixen’s flames into sparkles, Braixen dances across Stone Edge pillars, and Fire Blast bursts into glitter over the audience. Serena wins the Anistar Princess Key, Shauna places second and Jessie third. Jessie is furious until Meowth points out that third place is still good. Serena and Shauna each now need one more Key to qualify for the Master Class. Tierno arrives to report that Trevor has lost his belongings again, and he and Shauna leave as Ash’s Gym battle draws near.
