Synopsis
Just before Ash’s Lumiose Gym battle, Clembot is arrested for crimes committed by a lookalike, and Clemont exposes the robotics professor Belmondo and his Dark Clembot, beating Belmondo’s Magnezone with Luxray. Ash, Serena and Bonnie arrive at the Lumiose Gym for Ash’s fifth Gym battle, show off the newly evolved Goodra and Braixen, and Bonnie happily reunites with her brother. As the match is about to begin, Officer Jenny bursts in, arrests Clembot and locks it in a cell, showing security footage of an almost identical robot committing crimes around the city. Clemont points out that the culprit lacks the dent in Clembot’s head, but Jenny does not accept that as proof. Outside the station the group meets Meyer and Alexa, who has been investigating the same crimes and mentions that Blaziken Mask is on the case too, at which Meyer suddenly pretends never to have heard of him.
Back in Prism Tower, Clemont discovers that his computer was hacked from a machine linked to a Lumiose City university. He finds plans for a copy called Dark Clembot, its likely targets, an electronics warehouse and the Lumiose Museum, and the name “Belmondo.” Clemont takes everything he has found to Officer Jenny. Meanwhile Dark Clembot and a Magneton wreck the electronics warehouse, and new footage convinces Jenny that the culprit was not Clembot. She admits that a recent incident occurred at the very warehouse marked on Clemont’s map, and she recognises Belmondo as a robotics professor, releases Clembot and joins the group in staking out the Lumiose Museum. That night Clembot attacks its double just as Belmondo and Dark Clembot prepare to break in.
Belmondo admits that he admired Clembot’s design, improved on it and built Dark Clembot to commit crimes while Clembot took the blame. Angered by such a misuse of science, Clemont accepts a robot-versus-robot battle: Dark Clembot’s Magneton against Clembot’s Heliolisk. Because Clemont programmed Clembot to consider its Pokémon’s feelings while Dark Clembot only attacks, Clembot gains the upper hand, until Team Rocket magnetically haul both robots into the sky. Blaziken Mask rescues them, and with both robots badly damaged, the creators finish the fight themselves. Clemont’s Luxray easily defeats Belmondo’s Magnezone, because Belmondo cares nothing for his Pokémon’s feelings or abilities, and Officer Jenny arrests him. Alexa tries to speak to Blaziken Mask, but he hurries off, and Ash and Clemont get ready for their Gym battle the next day.
