Synopsis

Separated from their friends during a Team Rocket attack, Bonnie and Dedenne protect Ash’s new Goomy, which overcomes its fear of Fairy types and becomes Dedenne’s friend. Resting at a lake, Ash introduces Goomy to everyone’s Pokémon, but it hides behind him whenever Dedenne comes near. Clemont reminds everyone that Dragon types are weak against Fairy types, and Bonnie confidently predicts that they will soon be friends. Team Rocket swoop down in their balloon and drop a net over most of the Pokémon, leaving only Pikachu, Chespin and Pancham free. Inkay blocks Pikachu’s Thunderbolt with Psybeam, and when Wobbuffet’s Mirror Coat sends Chespin’s Pin Missile into the river, Inkay’s Psybeam churns the water and disturbs a colony of Lotad and Lombre, whose counterattack blasts Team Rocket away.

In the commotion, and with Ash sending Fletchinder into the sky to search, Serena, Bonnie, Dedenne, Goomy and Pancham are separated from Ash, Clemont, Pikachu and Fennekin, and Meowth is separated from his partners and lands with the girls. He pretends to be friendly, but Bonnie sees through him, and he gets a shock when he touches Dedenne’s cheeks while Pikachu and Dedenne try to find each other by sparking electricity. Goomy nibbles Pancham’s ear and sunglasses as Meowth translates Pancham’s complaints for the amused girls. Meanwhile Ash and Clemont search with Pikachu and Fennekin, and Pikachu keeps sending out sparks in the hope that Dedenne will answer. When Inkay appears, Meowth rejoins Jessie and James, who angrily demand to know where he has been, and Bonnie gives Dedenne its first battle commands as Pancham and Dedenne fight Pumpkaboo.

Remembering the destruction of its home, Goomy slides away; Dedenne follows what it thinks is Goomy’s trail down a hole and is spotted by Team Rocket. Jessie pins Goomy down while James looks up its final evolution, Goodra, on his computer, and when Goomy tries to escape, Pumpkaboo fires Shadow Ball. Dedenne leaps in front of Goomy to take the blow, and seeing the Fairy type fight for it, Goomy starts to lose its fear and soaks Jessie with Rain Dance. Fletchinder leads Ash and Clemont to the scene, Serena happily hugs Fennekin, Bunnelby defeats Pumpkaboo with Mud Shot, and Pikachu’s Thunderbolt blasts Team Rocket off once more. The group continues towards Coumarine City with Dedenne and Goomy now firm friends.
