Synopsis
At Shalour City’s Tower of Mastery, Gurkinn tells the story of the first Mega Evolution, and Korrina’s Mega Lucario stops Team Rocket from stealing the family’s Scroll of Secrets. While the tide cuts the tower off, Ash trains his Pokémon in Tierno’s rhythmic battling; they pick it up quickly, but Ash cannot dance, and neither Clemont’s dancing device, which explodes, nor Serena’s lessons help much.
When the tide recedes Gurkinn welcomes the group and explains that his ancestor and his Lucario found two unusual stones and achieved the first Mega Evolution, and that Korrina is not yet ready to inherit the Scroll of Secrets. That night Team Rocket find the scroll in the mouth of the Mega Lucario statue and set off an alarm; Gurkinn tires quickly, so the others give chase.
Pikachu intercepts Inkay’s Psybeam with Thunderbolt and destroys the balloon with Iron Tail, and Lucario deflects Pumpkaboo’s Shadow Ball with Bone Rush before Korrina Mega Evolves it and blasts Team Rocket away. At the group’s request Gurkinn reads the recovered scroll, which holds not Mega Evolution secrets but his own rules for life, and the next morning the Gym battle begins.
