Battling into the Hall of Fame! is the 41st episode of Pokémon the Series: XY, the seventeenth season of the Pokémon anime, and the 836th episode of the English dub overall (Japanese episode 842, Bulbapedia code XY042). It first aired in Japan on 4 September 2014 and in the United States on 1 November 2014. It falls within the season’s Pokémon Summer Camp stretch (EP39–EP42).
Synopsis
Team Froakie win the camp’s final Team Battle against Team Squirtle and enter the Hall of Fame, after rescuing their rivals’ Pokémon from Team Rocket. Team Froakie advance past Furfrou, Manectric and Fletchling, while Team Rocket, still disguised as chefs, pose as a health check-up service to steal Squirtle, Charmander and Bulbasaur and drain them with Pumpkaboo’s Leech Seed.
Nurse Joy has no record of the three Pokémon, and Bunnelby and Fennekin track Team Rocket down with Madame Catherine. The villains threaten their hostages and invite Pikachu to join them, but Bunnelby bursts from the ground, Froakie’s frubbles stop Pumpkaboo and Inkay, Fennekin’s Scratch frees the captives, Froakie’s Cut splits the cart, and Thunderbolt blasts Team Rocket off.
In the final, Squirtle’s Rapid Spin and Bulbasaur’s Razor Leaf hit all three of Team Froakie’s Pokémon and Aqua Tail knocks Fennekin out, but Chespin’s Vine Whip lifts Pikachu out of Solar Beam’s path, Thunderbolt beats Charmander, Electro Ball stops Bulbasaur and Thunderbolt defeats Squirtle. That night, under the fireworks, Ash asks Tierno to teach him his rhythmic battle style for the Shalour Gym, and the next morning the camp ends.
