Synopsis

Ash and company have had a lot of fun and adventures together, but sadly it looks like destiny will break them up. Misty gets her bike back, but her sisters are going on a trip around the world and dumping the responsibilities of running the gym on her. Brock receives an email that he has some errands to run for the family. Ash is saddened by the fact that his friends will no longer be traveling with him, but he promises they will see each other again. He finds out that even Gary is leaving off on his own with only the blastoise he started with, and gives him a going away present. No longer rivals, they part as true friends. Ash sees a (the?) ho-oh flying in the direction of Hoenn. So Ash decides to take Harrison’s advice and Gary’s lead, and travel to Hoenn alone with only Pikachu. With new clothes and gear from his mom, and the latest model of Pokédex from Prof Oak, Ash is ready to go.
