Synopsis
A young Mountain Patrol trainee and his Ledian prove themselves rescuing Pikachu and Togepi from a cliffside after Team Rocket’s balloon crashes. A speeding Ledian and a Gust from a Pidgeotto introduce the gang to Benji and his father, who guard the mountain; when the father is called down to the village, Benji is left in charge. Team Rocket’s new wind machine then sucks Pikachu and Togepi into their balloon, which strong gusts promptly blow off course.
The balloon snags on a rock spire, Victreebel’s Vine Whip attempt goes wrong and everyone drops onto a boulder that bounces downhill and settles balanced on a single pinnacle. Benji guides the rescuers up a fraying rope ladder, hauling it back with Ledian and Noctowl’s help, while on the rock Wobbuffet’s arrival tips the whole lot into the air and Togepi’s Metronome teleports them safely back. Ledian then rigs a rope-and-net zip line to lower the stranded party, only for Team Rocket to grab the two Pokémon again.
On the ground Benji’s father arrives, and his Pidgeotto blows away Weezing’s Smokescreen and flattens Weezing and Victreebel with one Gust, the two Ledian’s Swift scatters the trio, and Pikachu’s Thunderbolt sends them flying. At nightfall the spots on Benji’s Ledian glow red, a sign of good training, and he is promoted to full officer.
