Pokémon TCG · Generation I
Original Series
Where it all began — the 1999 Base Set and the Kanto classics that started a phenomenon.
The Original Series (1999–2000) is where the Pokémon TCG began in English. Published by Wizards of the Coast and built on the 151 Kanto Pokémon, it opened with the legendary Base Set and its now-priceless holographic Charizard.
Across seven releases — Base Set, Jungle, Fossil, Base Set 2, Team Rocket and the Gym Heroes and Gym Challenge sets — it established the core rules, the energy types and the collecting culture that every era since has been built on. These are the cards that started it all.
