Synopsis
Struggling professional golfer Kahili rediscovers her love of the game when she teaches Ash’s class to play Pokémon Golf with her Toucannon, Touckey. Reporters ambush Kahili and Touckey with questions about her losing streak and rumours of retirement until Touckey’s screech drives them away, and Kahili wonders whether she should give up. At the Pokémon School, a foul ball from Ash and Kiawe’s baseball game flies straight at her, and she swats it with her club so that it bounces off the school bell, is kicked back by Komala and caught by Turtonator. Professor Kukui recognises the famous golfer, Sophocles asks her to show them Pokémon Golf, and Touckey nudges her to agree. Kukui turns the rest of the school day into a golf lesson, and on the course a self-proclaimed master caddy appears, claiming forty years of experience, a figure that grows with every hole.
On the first hole, Kahili swings while Touckey uses Tailwind, and the ball drops straight into the cup for a hole-in-one. Pikachu knocks Ash’s wayward shot back on course with Iron Tail, and Shaymin pops out of a bush to nudge Mallow’s ball into the hole. Kiawe’s Marowak hits a Shadow Bone shot so hard that the ball vanishes into the sky, then taps the next one gently onto the green. Lillie misses the ball among wandering Alolan Exeggutor until Kahili tells her to breathe deeply and relax, and Sophocles’ careful calculations are made pointless when Togedemaru simply rolls the ball past Spinarak and Alolan Diglett into the cup. Each time the caddy claims credit for the advice, Touckey bites his head. On the sixth hole, Brionne’s singing sets the Pokémon dancing, and Kahili realises that Touckey simply wanted her to have fun again.
Kiawe lobs a ball over a herd of Exeggutor, Lana combines Brionne’s Surf with Sandy’s Tackle, and Snowy’s Powder Snow builds Lillie an icy slide to the cup. Finally the caddy leads everyone to the windswept “Tenth Hole of Doom,” a green perched high above a canyon. Using a Krabby as his club, he watches the wind blow his own ball into the valley, then challenges Kahili, and Rotom calculates her chances at one in ten million. Kahili swings and Touckey adds Tailwind, but the wind reverses and the ball begins to fall. Kahili grabs Touckey by the legs and aims its Beak Blast, which blasts the ball back onto the green and into the cup. The caddy declares that he has nothing more to teach her. Later, the class watches on television as Kahili wins her next tournament and thanks the Pokémon School for reminding her how much fun golf can be.
