Synopsis

Brock and Misty’s Alolan holiday continues on Akala Island, where Brock treats a wild Kangaskhan’s baby, falls for Olivia and battles her before Team Rocket interrupt. During a seaside picnic, Kiawe reveals that the cheese in Brock’s cooking comes from his family’s farm, and Brock, consulting his little blue book, insists on visiting Akala in the hope of meeting its island kahuna. On a nearby island, Team Rocket spot the group and urge James to hurry the repairs on their mecha. At Kiawe’s farm, cries from the Miltank and Mudbray reveal a wild Kangaskhan, but Brock notices its empty pouch and the baby hiding behind its mother’s leg with a swollen foot. He calls out his new Comfey, a gift from Nurse Joy for his help the day before, and its Sweet Scent and his gentle manner calm the mother while he bandages the baby’s leg.

The group then climbs Wela Volcano to find Olivia, and Brock grows more frantic with every step. When Olivia trips on a stone, Brock catches her hand and immediately proposes, until Misty hauls him away by the ear. Mallow’s commemorative photo is spoiled by the Hikers who now patrol the volcano, one of whom covers Brock’s face. Learning that Brock is a former Rock-type Gym Leader, Olivia challenges him to a battle. Her Lycanroc uses Rock Slide, but Brock’s Sudowoodo bats the rocks away with Hammer Arm. Lycanroc follows with Double Team and Accelerock, but Sudowoodo finds the real one with Feint Attack and survives a Drill Run. Olivia is delighted and asks to see more of Brock’s techniques, but Team Rocket burst in with the Giga Meowthbot 4, snatch Pokémon and recite their motto.

Lycanroc’s Rock Slide and Sudowoodo’s Low Kick hit the mecha, and Meowth charges a powerful beam in its head. Olivia readies a Z-Move, Brock clasps her hand, and together they pass Z-Power to Lycanroc for a heart-shaped Continental Crush. Meowth holds it back for a moment, but the sight of Stufful and Bewear distracts him, the mecha is crushed, and Pikachu’s Iron Tail frees the captured Pokémon before Bewear carries Team Rocket away from the volcano. That night everyone watches fireworks on Melemele Island with Professors Kukui and Burnet and Olivia. Misty and Brock call it an unforgettable vacation; Ash vows to keep studying to become a Pokémon Master, and Misty promises to make the Cerulean Gym the best in the world and to give Ash a Gym battle next time. The three friends raise their hands together before Brock and Misty return to Kanto.
