Synopsis

With the light of all Alola, Ash and Gladion restore Necrozma to its radiant Ultra form and free Nebby, Faba discovers Professor Kukui’s secret identity, and Poipole chooses to stay behind and protect its home world. The Guardians’ combined Z-Moves backfire—Necrozma simply absorbs the power and fires Prismatic Laser—while Alola prepares for the Manalo Festival under a forming eclipse. On Ten Carat Hill, Gozu’s grunts abandon him, and when Mega Aggron attacks again, Kukui sends out his Incineroar, asks Faba to keep quiet about what he is about to see, and defeats Mega Aggron with Malicious Moonsault. Faba realises that Kukui is the Masked Royal, opens his lab coat to reveal a Masked Royal shirt and joins him in the signature pose, and Gozu retreats. When the Matori Matrix tries to enter the Ultra Wormhole, Tapu Koko’s Dazzling Gleam pierces the helicopter and drives it off.

In Poipole’s world, Lunala tackles Dusk Mane Necrozma, and the Guardians send out their Pokémon to help. Tapu Koko channels energy into the wormhole, restoring contact with Aether Paradise, and the Guardians confirm that UB Black is the Blinding One, while Burnet explains that the people and Pokémon of Alola once shared their light with it. Lusamine messages the kahunas, and Hala, Olivia and Nanu gather everyone nearby; the guardian deities, the kahunas, the Aether staff, Poipole’s hive and even Bewear, Mimikyu and Mareanie—after Bewear crashes Team Rocket’s balloon—send their energy through the wormhole. When Lunala adds its own light, Necrozma glows and separates from Nebby, but it reforms in a rage. Gladion distracts it with Silvally’s Air Slash, Lunala throws him a Lunalium Z, and Ash and Mallow revive the collapsed Nebby with a Sitrus Berry.

Side by side, Ash and Gladion unleash Searing Sunraze Smash and Menacing Moonraze Maelstrom with Nebby and Lunala, and Necrozma’s black body turns gold as it reassembles into the dragon-like Ultra Necrozma. As the eclipse ends, its light revives Poipole’s world. Burnet warns that the wormhole is about to close, and Poipole decides to stay and protect its home. After a tearful farewell, it draws Ash and Pikachu with thunderbolt shapes in the sand, which Mallow reads as “Like, Like, Love,” and Ash says it back before the Guardians, Nebby and Lunala return to Alola. Team Rocket’s attempt to grab Nebby and Lunala ends with Bewear carrying them away, and Ultra Necrozma appears as a golden light in Alola’s sky. Later, Kukui arrives at school bundled up and listless—but only with a cold—and the class shouts “Alola!” together.
