Synopsis
Ash helps Kiawe with his family’s milk deliveries, visits their farm on Akala Island and teams up with him to drive off Team Skull. On his day off Ash practises Z-Moves, and Rowlet uses the Normalium Z for its first Breakneck Blitz, which carries it far out over the ocean and leaves it exhausted. Kiawe flies past on his Charizard carrying Moomoo Milk; Professor Kukui explains that Kiawe’s family runs a farm and that Kiawe makes deliveries every morning, and mentions the farm’s famous ice cream. Ash wants to visit and battle Kiawe afterwards, so Kukui lends him a Pelipper as a Ride Pokémon. Ash helps with the deliveries on Melemele, then flies with Kiawe to Akala Island. A customer, Harry, shows them a drawing of the Rowlet-themed cake he is making for his mother’s birthday and asks for the milk to arrive on time.
At the farm Ash meets Miltank, Tauros and Mudbray, one of which sneezes mud all over him. Kiawe’s mother, Sima, hands him a towel and explains that the grass is enriched by Wela Volcano, and his father, Rango, the farm’s president, treats Ash to ice cream. Kiawe’s little sister, Mimo, insists on helping despite Kiawe’s protectiveness. Ash washes a Mudbray, gets his brush stuck in its tail and is kicked, then learns that sixty more are waiting, before filling the troughs with hay and water. At sunset the family gives thanks to Wela Volcano before dinner. That night Ash watches Kiawe train with Charizard and Turtonator, which uses Flamethrower. Kiawe explains that he earned his Z-Ring and Firium Z by passing kahuna Olivia’s grand trial, and remembers his grandfather teaching him that fire, like the volcano, gives life; his grandfather also gave him his Charizard.
The next morning Mimo stays behind as Ash and Kiawe set off with Harry’s milk. A Dragon Rage strikes Pelipper and forces them to land, and Team Skull’s Tupp, Zipp and Rapp attack with Venoshock, nearly spilling the delivery. The grunts resent Kiawe’s Z-Moves, but they are shocked to discover that Ash has one too: Ash and Pikachu unleash Gigavolt Havoc and send the grunts fleeing. Ash and Kiawe reach Harry’s house on time, and Harry asks them to battle at his mother’s birthday party, which they happily agree to do. Meanwhile, back on Melemele, Team Rocket, still smothered by Bewear’s affection, decide that it is time to act. Mallow makes a brief cameo at Aina’s Kitchen, and Sophocles is absent for the first time since his debut.
