Synopsis
Bonnie’s song frees Squishy from Team Flare’s control, Malva and Steven turn the tide against Lysandre, and Clemont shuts down Team Flare’s control system, freeing Z2, at the cost of his beloved Clembot. Lysandre’s Mega Gyarados knocks out Noivern, which shields Pikachu from Dragon Tail, and then Hawlucha. Bonnie slips away from Blaziken Mask to chase Squishy. Inside the Lumiose Gym, Clembot cracks the door code, and Clemont confronts Xerosic, telling him that devices made to control and destroy Pokémon are not worthy of the name inventions. Bunnelby and Chespin battle Malamar and Crobat while Clembot begins infiltrating the system. Near Lysandre Labs, Mable’s Weavile attacks the helicopter, but Steven Stone’s Mega Metagross intervenes; Steven refuses to join Team Flare and sends Serena, Mairin and Sycamore ahead while he deals with Mable.
Inside the Labs, Celosia’s Drapion attacks, and Team Rocket drop their disguises to hold her off so the others can rescue Chespie. On Prism Tower, Mega Gyarados knocks out Goodra and Talonflame, and Lysandre mocks Ash for losing so many Pokémon, until Malva’s Mega Houndoom blocks a Hyper Beam. Malva declares that the adults must trust the children and teach the next generation to help one another, and she turns against Lysandre. Mairin and Sycamore take Chespie to safety while Steven’s Metagross rescues Serena from a squad of Grunts. In the streets, Bonnie and Blaziken Mask stand in Squishy’s path; the controlled Zygarde lashes out with a vine that Blaziken Mask takes instead, and Bonnie, realising it no longer recognises her, sings Squishy’s song through her tears.
Squishy’s eye flickers as it fights the control, and as Bonnie sings louder it redirects a Dragon Pulse into a building at the last second, shields the group from the debris and returns to its natural green before splitting from its Cells and collapsing into Bonnie’s arms. Inside the Gym, Clemont defeats Xerosic and Clembot takes over Team Flare’s system, but Clemont realises that a forced shutdown will erase Clembot’s memory. Clembot reminds him that as Lumiose’s Gym Leader he must weigh the many over the one, thanks him for creating it and urges him on. In tears, Clemont starts the shutdown; Clembot short-circuits and breaks down, Z2 is freed and splits apart, and Clemont weeps over its body as Chespin tries to comfort him. Malva notes that Z2 is free, and Ash declares that Team Flare is finished, but Lysandre is amused, and his Mega Gyarados lets out a loud cry.
