Synopsis

Bonnie’s bad-luck fortune comes true when she is tied to Meowth by a vine and the two must cooperate to escape a forest full of angry Pangoro. During a lunch break on the road to Laverre City, Serena reads the fortunes in her guidebook, which warn Bonnie that she faces some of her worst luck ever and should beware of something gold; she brushes the warning off. Team Rocket drift by in their balloon carrying fruit they have picked and attack; their net traps Pancham and Chespin and blocks Pikachu’s Thunderbolt, but Luxray’s Swift pops the balloon and the fruit tumbles down the hillside. Moments later three angry Pangoro charge out of the woods, ignore Clemont’s attempts to explain, and attack, scattering everyone in different directions.

Bonnie ends up with Dedenne and Meowth, and while fleeing a Pangoro the two fall off a cliff into thick vines that bind them together; not even Meowth’s Fury Swipes can cut them free. Trying and failing to break the vine, the two chat for a while, and Bonnie decides that the “gold” in her fortune must mean Meowth’s charm. Jessie and James, meanwhile, realise that Meowth is missing. The others are split into groups: Ash with Pancham, Serena with Frogadier and a jealous Chespin, Clemont with Braixen, Bunnelby and Pikachu, whose body-heat detector finds only another Pangoro, and Luxray, Hawlucha and Fletchinder together; when a Pangoro attacks Serena’s group, Frogadier distracts it with its frubbles so that they can run.

Bonnie and Meowth argue over Nanab Berries until Dedenne’s Nuzzle shocks them both, and Bonnie gives the last Berry to her companions. When they tumble into a group of Foongus, Bonnie is put to sleep by Spore, and Meowth draws a picture of a Chesto Berry for Dedenne to find so that they can wake her. Swept down a river, they are freed when a rock cuts the vine, but a distant roar convinces them to stay together, and they reach Fletchinder and the reunited group. When the three Pangoro return, Pancham tries to talk to them, and Meowth translates that they think the group stole their food. Jessie and James then arrive still carrying the fruit, revealing the real culprits, and the Pangoro blast them off. The group returns the Berries, and the Pangoro apologise and share their fruit.
