It first aired in Japan on 23 October 2014 and in the United States on 13 December 2014. It falls within the season’s Shalour City & the road to Coumarine stretch (EP43–EP49).
Synopsis
Visiting the academy he once attended, Clemont is reunited with the Shinx he befriended there, now a Luxio who believes he abandoned it, and catches it. His former teacher, Éclairisse, shows the group the Clemontic Shower, Clemont’s graduation project that lets weakened Electric types recharge, while a wild Luxio watches from nearby.
Clemont recalls befriending a sickly Shinx and building the shower with its help; he planned to ask it to be his partner the day before graduation, but the mayor whisked him away to a party for the invention and the Shinx thought he had left it behind. Team Rocket tamper with the shower to lure Electric types, causing blackouts, and in the sewers the Luxio attacks the group with Swift.
At the central tower Pumpkaboo and Inkay knock Luxio down, but it fights back with Thunder Fang, and when Clemont throws himself in front of a Shadow Ball to protect it, Luxio remembers him, licks his face and drives Team Rocket off with Discharge. Clemont asks Luxio to meet him in the town square if it still wants to be his partner, and the next day it lets itself be caught.
