Synopsis
In Kalos Canyon Ash has his first Sky Battle, and Fletchling evolves into Fletchinder mid-battle to defeat a proud Talonflame. After watching a Talonflame beat a Skarmory, the group learn about Sky Battles; Ash, Serena and Clemont get wingsuits, but Bonnie is too small, and Chespin comforts her while the others practise in an air room.
Sky Trainer Moria’s Talonflame refuses to fight the “weak” Fletchling and chooses Hawlucha, which can only glide and loses; Moria agrees to face Fletchling only if Hawlucha won, but Bonnie pleads for a chance. Then Team Rocket net Talonflame from their balloon, and Ash, Serena and Moria chase it in wingsuits until Fennekin’s Flamethrower brings the balloon down.
Fletchling stops Inkay with Razor Wind, frees Talonflame with Steel Wing and lands Peck on Pumpkaboo, earning Talonflame’s respect, and Talonflame’s Fire Blast blasts Team Rocket off. In the battle that follows, Fletchling is nearly engulfed by Fire Blast but evolves into Fletchinder, learns Flame Charge and builds up speed for the winning hit. The instructor promises Bonnie a wingsuit when she is taller.
