Plot episodeCilan saves the Striaton Gym
Survival of the Striaton Gym! is the 43rd episode of Pokémon: BW Adventures in Unova and Beyond, the sixteenth season of the Pokémon anime, and the 793rd episode of the English dub overall (Japanese episode 798, Bulbapedia code BW140). It first aired in Japan on 12 September 2013 and in the United States on 23 November 2013. It falls within the season’s Alexa and the road to Kalos stretch (EP134–EP140).
Synopsis
On Paladin Island, Cilan defends the Striaton Gym against Morana, a Sinnoh Trainer who has already beaten Chili and Cress and wants to take the Gym for herself. The brothers explain in a flashback that Chili accepted her challenge with the Gym at stake, and that her Mamoswine and Glalie defeated Pansear and Panpour.
Cilan chooses Pansage, the partner who has travelled with him longest, despite its weakness to Ice-type moves. Morana’s Abomasnow summons hail with Snow Warning, overpowers Pansage’s Bullet Seed with its own, hits back with Strength and finally freezes Pansage solid with Blizzard.
Cilan’s voice and the sunlight reach Pansage through the ice, and its Solar Beam bursts free and sends Abomasnow flying before Rock Tomb knocks it out. Pansage shares a fruit with Abomasnow, and Morana vows to win next time. Cilan wonders whether to return to the Gym, but Chili and Cress tell him to keep travelling, and the group sails on towards Vermilion City.
