Synopsis
Oshawott wins Scalchop Island’s Scalchop King Competition, but losing the island’s queen to his rival leaves him free to keep travelling with Ash. The prize is a golden scalchop and a year beside the queen, Osharina, with whom Oshawott falls in love; Cadbury’s Dewott, Caesar, knocks him down, and Freddy O’Martian, Don George and Nurse Joy run the contest.
Oshawott survives the appearance, target-throwing and tile-breaking rounds but crashes into Ash during the performance round. Meowth, entered as a Dewott with giant scalchops, cheats with remote-controlled thrusters until his costume falls apart and Pikachu’s Thunderbolt blasts Team Rocket off.
In the pool final, Caesar wins the early exchanges, but Oshawott puts his scalchop in front of his Aqua Jet like a torpedo and wins. As Ash struggles to say goodbye, Osharina leaps into Caesar’s arms, Oshawott’s scalchop snaps from the heartbreak, and the broken scalchop disqualifies him, handing the crown to Caesar. That evening Oshawott recovers by chasing a passing Cinccino.
