Plot episodeWhite Ruins, part 1The Light Stone
Ash and N: A Clash of Ideals! is the 23rd episode of Pokémon: BW Adventures in Unova and Beyond, the sixteenth season of the Pokémon anime, and the 773rd episode of the English dub overall (Japanese episode 778, Bulbapedia code BW120). It first aired in Japan on 4 April 2013 and in the United States on 6 July 2013. It falls within the season’s The White Ruins stretch (EP120–EP122).
Synopsis
At the White Ruins, Cedric Juniper uncovers the Light Stone, N snatches it, and Team Plasma attack while Ash and N are trapped underground. One of Cedric’s assistants drives Ash’s group to the dig, where the professor solves a sliding-block seal; lifting the Light Stone sends a column of fire through the roof of the dormant volcano.
Cedric recounts a legend of Reshiram and a hero whose pure heart may be lost to wealth, and N, who arrives to finish the story, takes the stone rather than let it become a research curiosity. Chasing him, Ash falls into a pit; N drops the stone to grab his hand, and both plunge into a sealed chamber below.
Underground, Ash tells N that scientists like Cedric use their discoveries to bring people and Pokémon closer, and N says he wants Anthea and Concordia to meet people like Ash. Above, Team Plasma surround the site, and the assistant reveals himself as Looker and takes Aldith hostage, but Colress’s device seizes every nearby Pokémon and overwhelms Cilan’s Crustle and Iris’s Dragonite.
