Synopsis
In Aspertia City, Ash meets Cheren, a newly appointed Gym Leader who also teaches at the local Trainers’ School, and loses an exhibition battle to him. The Gym’s battlefield is unfinished, so it is not officially open, and the hesitant Cheren agrees to a match only after a fellow teacher suggests one.
During a tour, Axew and Pikachu tumble across a control panel and blast the intercom at full volume, and the noise sends the school’s Pokémon fleeing. Ash spots camouflaged Sunflora with his Pokédex, Cilan and Pansage are soaked by Ducklett at the pool, and Iris chases Minccino around the kitchen. A terrified Shinx cornered by two students unleashes Discharge; Cheren shields the children and calms it, and the students confess they left the Pokémon House door open.
In the exhibition, Oshawott pops out of its ball to face Cheren’s Herdier. Herdier’s Take Down beats Tackle, a kick sends Oshawott’s scalchop flying, and a third Thunder Fang wins the match. Cilan points out how inspired the students were, and Cheren resolves to trust his own decisions.
