Synopsis
As Pachirisu dashes around the stage in a panic, Dawn throws a Poffin into the air, and its sweet scent stops the Electric type in its tracks. It leaps up, catches the treat in a crackle of Spark and eats it, then, recharged, showers the arena with Discharge and a cloud of hearts from Sweet Kiss, turning near-disaster into applause. Jessilina’s Seviper performs by wrapping itself around her, and Kenny closes the Performance Stage with Alakazam, which seals itself in a box of Light Screen, breaks out with Shadow Ball, escapes with Teleport and levitates inside a ring of Hidden Power before finishing with fireworks. Kenny, Jessilina and Dawn all reach the final eight, and Kenny admits he entered Floaroma only because he wanted to battle Dawn after seeing her in Jubilife.
Ash and Brock drop by to wish Dawn luck, and the computer pairs her with Jessilina in the first round of the Battle Stage. Dustox’s Whirlwind and Poison Sting earn points while Piplup spins to power up Peck, and Psybeam keeps Piplup dodging until Dawn has it absorb a barrage of Poison Sting with Bide. The released energy halves Jessilina’s score, and when Dustox tries another Poison Sting, Piplup sidesteps it and knocks it out with Peck. After a further win over a Bagon, the final pits Piplup against Kenny’s Prinplup. Their Bubble Beams cancel into sparkles but cost Dawn points, Metal Claw catches Peck and tosses Piplup aside, and Prinplup’s Drill Peck meets Piplup’s Bide and its own spinning attack, until the stored energy is released and Kenny’s score drops too.
Piplup flips over Metal Claw and traps Prinplup in Whirlpool, halving Kenny’s points, but Prinplup bursts free with Bubble Beam to level the scores and covers the stage with Mist. Piplup dives into a new whirlpool to escape Drill Peck, and when Prinplup follows it in, Metal Claw and Peck collide and throw both out of the water, before one last pair of Bubble Beams cancels out. The buzzer sounds with Dawn narrowly ahead. Mr. Contesta presents her with the Floaroma Ribbon, her very first, and Dawn holds it high before calling her mother to show it off. She and Ash share a high five, and Kenny congratulates them both before leaving, calling Dawn “Dee-Dee” again. When Ash asks what the nickname means, Dawn quickly changes the subject.
