Synopsis

Ash calls his mom to let her know that he’s on the way home. Ash is excited to get back and see Prof. Oak to learn more about the Pokemon League, as he’s running toward pallet he runs into an invisible wall. He then spots a Mr. Mime climbing up it’s own invisible barrier, and after hearing how rare Mr. Mime is Ash is intent on catching it but a woman called Stella appears asking that they please let her catch it instead. She throws a PokéBall but misses and Mr. Mime escapes, the friends accompany Stella back to her Pokemon circus who is the ringmaster. It turns out her own Mr. Mime she uses for her circus performances got trained too hard, and it walked out on her in the middle of show, now refusing to perform and sitting about eating potato chips and scratching itself all day. Stella wanted another Mr. Mime in order to give her existing Mime some competition, with a view to prompting it to want to perform again.
Brock vows to help Stella get a Mr. Mime that day, and seems really confident, it turns out that Ash is going to be involved in this plan. Meanwhile Jessie, James and Meowth arrive at Team Rocket HQ and are grovelling about what happened at the Viridian Gym, he orders them to get out and find him some rare Pokemon and they set off in their balloon, a flyer for the Pokemon Circus then lands and they spot Mr. Mime and plan on stealing it to give to the boss. Unfortunately for all concerned the Mr. Mime performing today is Ash dressed up as Mr. Mime, Ash is worried because he doesn’t know how to do Mr. Mimes parts and Stella vows to use her gentle training techniques to teach him. Unfortunately for Ash this means being aggressively whipped and shouted at by Stella, and it becomes quickly apparent why the real Mr. Mime decided to quit.
After a hard days training the evening Circus events begin and theres a capacity crowd. Ash, aka Mr. Mime then spots his mom in the audience. The lights go down and Jessie and James are revealed high above the rafters of the Circus tent, making quite a performance out of their entrance. Team Rocket capture “Mr. Mime” in a net and escape with their balloon via the roof. Misty and Brock run over to Stella, and shortly after Ash’s Mom arrives, she knew it was him somehow, she actually isn’t concerned at all and is glad they didn’t take a real Mr. Mime. She invites Misty, Stella and Brock back to her home to cook them dinner.
Meanwhile Ash breaks his ropes, reveals who he is, and walks out of Team Rocket’s hideout, flying off in their Balloon and heading to Pallet Town. The Mr. Mime they spotted on the road approaches Ash’s house just after Misty, Brock and Stella leave, Ash’s mom however thinks this is Ash in costume and feeds him Ash’s favourite meal. Mr. Mime continues to make himself at home, and Ash arrives back in the balloon, walks in and finds a real Mr. Mime sat in the living room eating his dinner. Upon seeing Ash the real Mr. Mime hides behind his mom, Ash begs Mr. Mime to help the Pokemon circus, he is initially reluctant but the promise of some dessert from Ash’s mom after does the trick and he agrees to help.
Team Rocket attack the circus with a tank and nets. Stella instructs the circus staff to get all the Pokemon and run, Team Rocket are in hot pursuit and catch the trucks in a giant net, they continue looking for the real Mr. Mime and spot Stella running off with him, but he’s a little unfit from all that eating bad food and doing no exercise, Stella carries him on her back and keeps running. Team Rocket are about to capture her in a net and Ash jumps in the way, Pikachu tries a thunderbolt on the tank but its made of rubber so it doesn’t work. Ash takes a long shot and sends out Charizard, who doesn’t fancy helping. Ash’s mom pleads with the Mr. Mime from her house to help them, and he agrees, Team Rocket immediately fire on him and he repells the rockets with barriers. Team Rocket try to ram the barriers with the tank but they don’t move an inch, Stella’s Mr. Mime wants to compete with the other Mime and also builds barriers to Block TR’s path, the two Mimes then work together to build a cage of barriers, completely trapping Team Rockets tank!
The circus Mr. Mime and Stella make up, she agrees to go easier on him and he agrees to perform again. Ash’s moms Mr. Mime, aka “Mimey” returns to her. Team Rocket fire all of their missles inside the barriers and blow themselves up, sending them blasting off again. Mr. Mime stays on as a companion for Ash’s mom.
