Synopsis
In Pericarp Town, the trio help a boy named Yuha rescue his Noibat from a cave of Vibrava while Friede learns from the town’s Matriarch how Gibeon left the mountain a century ago, and then the Six Heroes help the group climb towards Laqua. Landing near the town, Friede notices no sign of Laquium’s effects. When someone mentions Black Rayquaza, the group finds a father trying to calm his son Yuha, who angrily orders them away when they mention Rayquaza and Laqua. The father explains that Yuha believes the stories of the family Matriarch, his own great-grandmother, who claims to have seen Rayquaza about a century ago, and Friede asks to meet her, sending the children into town. Hearing Yuha’s voice from a cave, Liko, Roy and Dot go in, lit by a fireball from Crocalor, and are chased by wild Vibrava until they find Yuha and his Noibat. Yuha blames them and Rayquaza for his troubles, but Liko calms him, and he explains that the Vibrava attacked just as he found his missing Noibat; Dot points out that they need a plan, since the Vibrava block the exit.
The Matriarch tells Friede of a mysterious explosion at “the place where heaven and earth meet” on Mount Pericarp, after which Rayquaza was seen flying away and the sun was blotted out for three days and nights; when the light returned, she saw a long-haired scholar, Gibeon, leaving the site, and her mother treated his injuries. She warns Friede to be careful on the climb. In the cave, Liko’s attempt to reason with the Vibrava fails. Kilowattrel’s Uproar and Tinkatuff’s Play Rough meet a counterattack that hits both, and Hattrem restores them with Heal Pulse; when reinforcements arrive, Quaxwell’s Aqua Cutter, Crocalor’s Disarming Voice and Floragato’s Magical Leaf hold them off, and Yuha, inspired, has Noibat clear a path with Dragon Claw. Outside, Yuha explains that he had been training the move in the cave when Noibat disappeared; Dot suggests that they had wandered into Vibrava territory, and Yuha realises that the fault was his own, not Rayquaza’s, apologising and resolving to get more in sync with Noibat.
Friede calls to report that Gibeon was in Pericarp Town and that Laqua lies at the place where heaven and earth meet, while Captain Pikachu senses someone watching; when he turns, Chalce is already gone. Dressed for the cold, the group leaves the Brave Olivine to climb Mount Pericarp, with Pagogo calling on the Six Heroes for help. Lucius’s giant Arboliva carries them over a tall wall, his giant Lapras ferries them across a dangerous river while Kleavor smashes threatening rocks, Gouging Fire pushes a huge rolling boulder off the edge, and Moltres’s Fiery Wrath drains the energy of a wild Tyranitar and Nidoking blocking the way; Liko wonders whether the heroes once helped Lucius the same way. Phone reception disappears as they climb until they reach a point where they can touch the clouds. Pagogo urges them to enter, and Liko, Roy, Dot and Friede step inside, only to find themselves at a dead end: a crater filled with clouds.
