Synopsis

In Lilycove City, Chloe meets Serena and her Sylveon, the last Eeveelution on her list, and makes her Contest debut, while Ash battles Wallace and Goh finally catches an Altaria. Chrysa tells Chloe that her friend Kiley has spotted a Sylveon and its Trainer winning attention in Hoenn’s Contests, and since Ash and Goh are also heading to Lilycove so that Goh can catch an Altaria, Chloe sets off at once. At the Contest Hall, the Contest Idol Lisia picks out Chloe precisely because she has never competed, hands her a Contest Pass and a Pokéblock Case, and urges her to enter the Contest Spectacular. Chloe’s Eevee then leads her to the Sylveon she came to find, whose Trainer, Serena, recognises her from Lisia’s broadcast. Chloe explains that she lets Eevee choose its own evolution, and Serena recalls how she met her Eevee dancing and saw it evolve into Sylveon, adding that she too was undecided about her path until she resolved to become a Pokémon Performer.

Serena tells the hesitant Chloe that even failing is better than gaining no experience, and offers to help her prepare. Meanwhile, Wallace stops Ash and Goh on their way to the hall; Ash does not recognise him until he mentions the Wallace Cup, where May and Dawn competed. Wallace has followed Ash’s World Coronation Series progress and challenges him on the spot, boasting that he is a match for Hoenn’s Champion, Steven Stone, and Ash happily accepts, to Goh’s exasperation. Serena helps Chloe choose a Contest costume and gives Eevee an ear decoration. When her turn comes, Chloe thinks of all the Eeveelutions she has met and has Eevee copy Fairy Wind from Serena’s Sylveon with Copycat, then use Tackle to carry the wind further, while Professor Cerise watches with relief. Goh follows the Contest on his Rotom Phone as Ash and Wallace keep sending out new Pokémon.

In the Master Rank, Serena performs with Delphox, Pancham and Sylveon, and Lisia closes the show by Mega Evolving her Altaria, Ali, for a Draco Meteor. Ash’s Pikachu defeats Wallace’s Milotic to win the battle, and Wallace gives Ash a Rain Badge and his scarf before launching into a long speech, during which Serena and Lisia are announced as joint winners. Goh spots the Altaria he missed earlier and runs off after it. At sunset, as Chloe prepares to sail back to Kanto, Serena gives Eevee her Sylveon’s ear decoration and reveals that Lisia has invited her to form an idol duo; Chloe reminds her of her own advice about hesitation. Ash and Goh arrive, Goh showing off his new Altaria, and Ash is overjoyed to see Serena again just as the ship begins to move. Ash calls out that he will become the world’s strongest Trainer, Serena vows to become the world’s greatest Performer, and she runs off with Sylveon as the ship sails into the sunset.
