Synopsis
Ash and Goh take on the training course of Wikstrom of the Kalos Elite Four at the Castle of Chivalry, where Farfetch’d learns Detect and Goh’s Scyther evolves into Scizor. Ash is working on teamwork with Farfetch’d in Cerise Park when Professor Cerise and Ren tell him about the Castle of Chivalry, a training facility in Kalos run by Wikstrom, who believes that chivalry leads to strength. Goh brings Scyther, which has not battled much lately. At the castle, Wikstrom singles out Farfetch’d as a promising student and explains the rules: every Trainer and Pokémon pair must clear three tasks in heavy armour, and those who reach the top earn Knight Medals. The first task is ten laps around the castle, during which Wikstrom’s Probopass drags everyone backward with its magnetism until he is satisfied that they have shown strength of body and spirit. The second is the Labyrinth of Doubt, a trap-filled maze that tests their courage, where Ash and Goh are separated.
Scyther protects Goh from an attacking Escavalier, while Farfetch’d ignores its pursuers and smashes straight through a dead-end wall rather than turn back. Watching on his cameras, Wikstrom sees great fighting spirit that has not yet reached its potential. When Farfetch’d falls into a trap hole and loses its precious leek, Ash leaps in after it, catches himself on the walls and returns the leek, and Wikstrom notices that something in Farfetch’d changes. The boys reach the goal together and are handed prop swords for the final task in the tower: take the key to the roof from Wikstrom’s Klefki while fending off Wikstrom and his Aegislash. Their first attempt makes little progress, so Ash takes on Wikstrom and Aegislash with Farfetch’d while Goh and Scyther chase Klefki. Aegislash’s King’s Shield blocks every blow, and Ash realises that Farfetch’d is fighting as recklessly as it did against Rinto’s Gallade.
Distracted, Ash is cornered, and just as Wikstrom is about to strike him down, Farfetch’d leaps in to block the blade and takes a hit from Aegislash’s Sacred Sword. When Aegislash attacks again, Farfetch’d evades with the new move Detect and counters with Night Slash, but Ash calls it off when he sees that Goh and Scyther have retrieved the key, which means all four have passed the final task. On the roof, Wikstrom presents each of them with a Knight Medal and suggests that Scyther is ready to evolve. He gives Scyther a Metal Coat to hold, and Goh sends it through a trade machine, from which it emerges as Scizor. With Ash and Farfetch’d now fighting as a team, Ash promises his partner that next time they will beat Rinto’s Gallade.
