Synopsis
Nebby reveals that it can use Teleport, whisking Ash and his classmates to wherever they happen to be thinking about and eventually delivering Ash straight into Team Rocket’s hands. Lillie opens the episode with a diary entry, and Ash feeds his Pokémon before heading to the Pokémon School with Professor Kukui, Rowlet and Nebby tucked into his backpack. Team Rocket have parked their food truck outside the school, and Jessie is just ending a call with Matori when Ash stops to buy a malasada. The trio spot Nebby in his bag, and James decides from its appearance that it must be a pre-evolved Koffing, which he names “Proto-Koffing.” Convinced they have found a rare Pokémon, Team Rocket plan to capture it. Inside, the students spend the morning sculpting clay models of their partner Pokémon, with mixed results.
Partway through the lesson, Nebby begins using Teleport, sending one classmate after another to some other place and then bringing them back. The students work out that it is sending each person to whatever they are thinking about, and Nebby finally drifts over to Lillie and falls asleep. At lunch the friends compare notes and confirm the pattern. When Ash lifts Nebby, it bursts into tears, and the class pulls silly faces to calm it, but only Lillie gets a reaction. Then Nebby teleports Ash alone to a Jigglypuff, which sings him to sleep and draws on his face before leaving. When Ash wakes, Nebby keeps teleporting him from one place to the next, while his worried classmates set out to search for him.
Finally Nebby thinks of Team Rocket and lands Ash right beside the trio on a beach, where Jessie has been complaining about Matori. The villains announce their plan, Jessie sends out Mimikyu, and James proposes a “fair” battle. After a few exchanges, Jessie and Ash circle each other until the low evening sun blinds Ash, and Team Rocket seize the moment to snatch Nebby. They wait for Bewear to carry them off, but when it does not come, Nebby obligingly teleports them straight to Bewear, which hauls the trio back to its den. Nebby hears Ash calling, teleports back to him and falls asleep as Ash reunites with his classmates. When it wakes up again, it teleports the whole group to the top of the school building.
