Synopsis
On the way to the Kalos League, the group revisits the wetlands to reunite with Ash’s old friend Goodra, who helps them deal with a mischievous Carbink and rescue its friends from Team Rocket. A playful Carbink hides from the group of Carbink looking for it and pops up near Bonnie, who recognises it, before burrowing away again. Travelling along Route 14 towards Lumiose City, the friends meet Keanan, who directs them to the spring where Goodra is watching Pokémon play with Florges and Floette. Dedenne happily rejoins its old friend, Bonnie introduces Squishy, and Goodra sees that Greninja and Talonflame have evolved and meets newcomer Noivern. Soon a Lotad leads them to the troublesome Carbink, which has trapped Wooper and Lotad in Sandstorm. Its friends explain that it keeps causing mischief, and when it vanishes underground again, Ash agrees to help find it.
Talonflame, Noivern and Bunnelby search without success, and the culprit keeps stealing the berries Florges leaves as bait, so that Florges blames Quagsire and attacks it until Floette catches Carbink in the act. Team Rocket, delighted at the idea of a Pokémon made of jewels, build a Carbink-shaped mecha and capture the six Carbink who arrive looking for their missing friend. Bonnie notices that Dedenne has gone missing, and Clemont notices that Bonnie has too: Dedenne has found the captives and tried to bite through the force field, and Bonnie, chased by Gourgeist and Inkay, runs straight into the others. Team Rocket then appear in their “Carbink Robo Drillalyzer,” with the six Carbink attached to its arms, and begin tearing up the wetlands.
Pikachu’s Thunderbolt has no effect on the diamond-hard Carbink, and Team Rocket knock Ariados and Pinsir off the robot. The captives call for Goodra’s help. Pushed along by the Water Gun of Wooper, Quagsire and Lotad, the mischievous Carbink rams the robot, smashing an arm and freeing its friends, and together they shatter the glass shield. Goodra takes a Psybeam meant for the wild Pokémon and defeats Gourgeist and Inkay with Dragon Pulse, and Ash orders Ice Beam before the seven Carbink use Power Gem to blast Team Rocket away. That evening the prankster apologises and is forgiven. Goodra wishes Ash luck, and he promises to win the Kalos League. Meanwhile, at the Shalour Gym, Alain and Mega Charizard X defeat Korrina and Mega Lucario to earn the Rumble Badge, and he tells Korrina he is entering the League to battle a particularly strong opponent.
