Synopsis
Bonnie finally meets a girl who might actually want to marry Clemont, a future company president named Lilia, and the prospect of losing her brother throws her into a panic. The episode opens with Bonnie dreaming that Clemont, in a white tuxedo, announces his wedding and hands her the Lumiose Gym; she wakes in relief and laughs off Serena’s remark that dreams sometimes come true. When Bunnelby chases a stray ball into the bushes, he meets a Buneary, who blushes at him, and her Trainer, Lilia. Bonnie eagerly asks Lilia to marry Clemont, and Lilia, who is looking for a partner, finds the idea interesting and is impressed by Clemont’s Aipom Arm. Over a lakeside lunch, she explains that her father works for the electronics company Orangics and that one day she will run it, so she needs a partner who can handle the pressure.
Bonnie starts imagining a future in which Clemont marries Lilia, hands over the Gym and lives happily ever after, and she grows increasingly uneasy. Chespin and Pancham try to flirt with Buneary and are knocked away, and Team Rocket decide to steal her to boost Jessie’s beauty. When Bunnelby and Buneary go for a walk, Lilia invites Clemont along, and Bonnie insists that the Trainers do not need to go too. Lilia and Bunnelby fall into a pit, and while Clemont bandages Lilia, Bonnie tries to talk her out of choosing him, warning that his inventions explode and that he is afraid of the dark. Lilia finds it all endearing and says that failure leads to success. She asks to travel with the group, and Bonnie squeezes between her and Clemont, determined to hold her brother’s hand.
Team Rocket trap the group in a pit, net Bunnelby and Buneary and escape, but Clemont’s Protection Progress Machine tracks the transmitters he hid in the bandages. On a cliff, Chespin’s Pin Missile cancels Shadow Ball and Luxray joins the fight, until a stray attack knocks Bonnie off the edge. Clemont leaps after her and catches her with the Aipom Arm, and as it starts to short-circuit, Luxray and Lilia help haul her to safety. Braixen’s Fire Blast and Pikachu’s Electro Ball overpower Gourgeist and Inkay, Iron Tail frees the captives and Thunderbolt blasts Team Rocket off. That evening Lilia says goodbye, advising Serena that choosing a partner takes time and Bonnie to be kind to her brother, while Bunnelby and Buneary part in tears. The next day the repaired Aipom Arm explodes again, and Bonnie decides that finding Clemont a wife is a good idea after all.
