Synopsis
A Darkrai pulls Pikachu and Meowth into a shared dream in which Squishy can talk, the group’s Pokémon appear in strange new forms, and a fiery monster chases them as Squishy begs to be taken home to Terminus Cave. The friends camp out to watch the Litleonid meteor shower and make wishes, and Clemont sets an alarm clock he swears will wake everyone. During the night Dedenne knocks Squishy out of Bonnie’s bag and it climbs a tree to sleep, while Meowth, kept awake by Jessie and James’s snoring, counts Mareep. A Darkrai then draws Pikachu and Meowth into Squishy’s dream. There, Pikachu meets a talking Froakie, Diggersby and Delphox, and finds Ash speaking only in Pokémon sounds with Froakie’s eyes. Meowth sees Jessie and James talking like Wobbuffet and Inkay and runs for his life. The two old enemies meet, notice nothing odd about each other, and come across a talking Squishy, which is fleeing a fiery monster.
Riding on Pikachu’s back, Squishy leads them across a river and asks them to take it home to Terminus Cave; when they touch it, it becomes Zygarde Complete Forme, and both Pokémon wake up. Pikachu rouses the camp because Squishy is missing from Bonnie’s bag, and everyone begins searching; Meowth tells Jessie and James about his dream before heading out too. Pikachu and Meowth meet in the woods and are pulled straight back into the dream, where Squishy restores fields the monster has scorched but says it must reach Terminus Cave before it can fight. The monster corners them again. Pikachu’s Thunderbolt has no effect, Froakie’s Water Pulse, Delphox’s Flamethrower and Diggersby’s Double Slap all fail, and Diggersby is knocked back into a Bunnelby.
Chespin and Pancham arrive and start squabbling over food until both evolve on the spot, into Chesnaught and Pangoro, and nearly come to blows. The monster’s attack forces them to cooperate, and Pin Missile, Dark Pulse and Thunderbolt together split the creature into small harmless flames, just as Clemont’s alarm explodes and wakes everyone for real. Pikachu and Meowth return to their companions, unsure whether they are still dreaming; James decides Meowth is overworked, and Meowth vows never to sleep again. At the campsite the group finds the remains of the exploded alarm clock, and Ash consoles Clemont that it would certainly have woken everyone. Bonnie retrieves Squishy from its tree, and a Darkrai appears beneath a dark cloud before vanishing. Clemont realises it caused Pikachu’s bad dream, but Pikachu is too embarrassed to describe it, and the group packs up for Snowbelle City.
