Synopsis
At the Battle Chateau Ash wins his first battle and becomes a Baron, then watches Grant, revealed as the Cyllage Gym Leader, defeat Viola. Brothers Nico and Chester explain that Trainers there earn noble ranks (Baron, Viscount, Earl, Marquis, Duke and Grand Duke) by winning, and Duke Turner welcomes the group. Nico’s Fletchinder beats Baron Farrell’s Dusknoir with Flame Charge to become a Viscount.
Grant, caught climbing the Chateau’s historic walls, argues with Viola and cannot battle Ash because a Duke may not face a Baron, so Turner pairs Ash with Chester. Chester’s Fletchling dodges with Agility, weakens Pikachu with Feather Dance and strikes with Steel Wing, but Pikachu’s Iron Tail keeps improving, and a final Thunderbolt makes Ash a Baron.
Grant and Viola, both one win from promotion, then battle: Viola’s Surskit uses ice, Bubble Beam, Protect and Ice Beam, but Grant’s Onix uses Rock Tomb, Flash Cannon and Rock Polish to win, making Grant a Grand Duke. Viola reveals that Grant leads the Cyllage Gym, Clemont guesses he uses Rock types, and Ash resolves to train against Rock Tomb.
