Synopsis

Back at the Pokémon Center, Team Rocket beg Ash’s group to help rescue Meowth, and the two sides agree to work together. Ranger Base tells Solana that sunspots strengthen the solar wind about once a decade and that its energy matches the geomagnetic disturbance, and she marks its source on a map. In Deoxys’s dimension, meanwhile, Max and Meowth wake in what looks like Max’s bedroom, and Deoxys speaks through Meowth again. It explains that it travelled to Earth on the small, cold, silent meteorite, longing for a voice to keep it company, and that after the crash it found nobody and felt utterly alone. Max reassures it that it does not have to be lonely and shows it how many Pokémon there are throughout the world.

The rescue party return to the cave with Marshtomp, Combusken, Swellow and Sceptile, while Pikachu, hurt by another spike in the disturbance, rides in Ash’s backpack and Nurse Joy looks after Plusle. Writhing in pain, Deoxys releases its hold on Meowth and opens a passage back to the real world, through which the group can see Max and Meowth. As another surge of solar wind hits, the meteorite glows, the scanner shorts out and the rock explodes, throwing everyone out of the cave. Solana realises that the meteorite’s energy combined with the solar wind is what is hurting Deoxys. Static clouds gather, and the agitated Deoxys shrugs off Bullet Seed, Fire Spin, Flamethrower and Water Gun, knocks Swellow down with Extreme Speed and dodges Sceptile’s Solar Beam, while a chain reaction from the meteorite spreads harm to the wild Pokémon.

Deoxys cycles through its Formes faster and faster and escapes another capture attempt, but May hauls Max out of the portal and Jessie pulls Meowth to safety. Then Sceptile seizes Deoxys from behind and fires a Solar Beam point-blank into its back, forcing it into Normal Forme, and this time Solana’s Styler captures it. Calmed at last, Deoxys heals itself with Recover, and when the meteorite bursts again and its energy floods the valley, Deoxys shields everyone with Safeguard. The clouds clear, the air pressure returns to normal and the disturbance ends. Deoxys releases Meowth, thanks Max for his friendship and flies off to explore a world it now knows is full of other Pokémon. As the aurora returns to the sky, Solana reports that her mission is complete.
