Shaking Island Battle! Dojoach vs. Namazun!! is an episode produced for Pokémon: Advanced Battle, the eighth season of the Pokémon anime, that was never broadcast anywhere (Bulbapedia code AG101 (unaired)). It falls within the season’s Mossdeep City: the Mind Badge & Drake stretch (EP99–EP101).
Never aired anywhere: the episode was cancelled in Japan after the 2004 Chūetsu earthquake and was never supplied for dubbing. Read more about the unaired episode.
Synopsis
Scheduled for 4 November 2004 but never shown anywhere, this Whiscash story was cancelled after the 2004 Chūetsu earthquake. Planned as the episode after Ash’s Mind Badge victory, Shaking Island Battle! Dojoach vs. Namazun!! would have taken the group to Jojo Island, where Chōta and a Barboach face a Whiscash that is causing the island’s earthquakes; the screenplay was by Yukiyoshi Ōhashi, with storyboards by Yoshito Hata, direction by Shigeru Ōmachi and animation direction by Yūsaku Takeda. On 23 October 2004 the Chūetsu earthquake struck Niigata Prefecture, nearly a week before Solid as a Solrock first aired, and TV Tokyo first postponed the episode and then discontinued it, moving Vanity Affair (originally the following week’s episode) up into its slot so that the weekly run shows no gap. It was never broadcast, rebroadcast or released on video and was never supplied for dubbing, which makes it the only Ruby and Sapphire episode banned in every country; Bulbapedia files it as “AG101 (unaired)” and treats it as non-canon. Barboach’s debut moved to The Great Eight Fate! (AG110), Ash is never shown learning where the eighth Gym is, and all that has surfaced online is a next-episode preview, probably aired by mistake on some stations.
