Synopsis
Roy visits Indigo Academy to ask Liko for help investigating the pink mist, and after battles against Ann and then Liko she decides to leave school and travel with him to clear the Rising Volt Tacklers’ name. Roy, Cap and Kilowattrel are greeted warmly by Ann, and the girls give him a tour before settling in the cafeteria. There Liko and Roy tell Ann what happened after they escaped Laqua: they searched for the missing Friede without success, the Explorers sealed off Mount Pericarp, and the team agreed to disband. Roy reveals that he has spent the year training in Kalos, where he caught his Lucario. When Ann is called away, Roy tells Liko about Dot’s report of a Pokémon releasing pink mist; Liko is stunned, since Pagogo purified Laqua, and she declines to help because Pagogo has not stirred in a year. Roy accepts her answer, but Ann senses the gloom when she returns and suggests a battle to lift everyone’s spirits. Meowscarada has wandered off, so Liko goes to find it while Roy and Ann head to the courtyard.
Ann’s Samurott faces Roy’s Lucario. Lucario opens with Flash Cannon, Samurott answers with Hydro Pump, Razor Shell blocks Metal Claw, and Ann calls for Drill Run while a crowd of curious students gathers, whispering that Roy belongs to the infamous Rising Volt Tacklers. On a rooftop Liko finds Meowscarada watching, and seeing Roy’s new partner she feels that her friends have moved on while she stands still; Meowscarada leaps down, and one of its flower bombs bursts beside her. Lucario reads Samurott’s Drill Run through its Aura, dodges, and wins with Close Combat. Roy then asks Liko for a battle. Crocalor’s Flamethrower misses, Meowscarada juggles Flower Trick bombs to distract it, and one drops at Crocalor’s feet. Roy realises he cannot rely on sight alone and has Crocalor use Disarming Voice to detonate every flower at once, then lands Flamethrower; Meowscarada escapes behind a smokescreen and pins Crocalor in the air with its invisible stem.
Liko’s feelings begin to match her partner’s, and a hidden flower that had vanished reappears to land several hits. Regaining her confidence, Liko Terastallizes Meowscarada for the first time this season, Roy Terastallizes Crocalor, and the two attacks collide; Meowscarada is defeated, but Liko has found her resolve. When the students demand to know whether Roy is a Rising Volt Tackler, he does not deny it, and Liko steps forward and proudly introduces herself as a member too. At the bus stop, Roy and Ann wait while Liko packs; Ann is glad that her friend has finally let go of a year of worry. Liko arrives with Meowscarada, ready to take back the truth from the Explorers alongside Roy, and Ann waves them off as Liko declares that with her Pokémon beside her she can finally move forward. Elsewhere, Spinel stands before the captured Six Heroes — all except the Black Rayquaza — and declares that the world will bow before the Explorers. Roy uses Aura, the first main character other than Ash to do so, and Ult, Sableye, Liko and Roy narrate the preview.
