Here's one I remember trying before, but must have abandoned it. Here we go again, started it because I had a lot of time on my hands whilst on the bus to and from Miami.
Verson: Yellow (no opportunity for trading)
Name: FB
Type attempted: Ground
Money: $52140
Time: 22:20 (This is a bit overblown, because sometimes I fall asleep when I'm playing...)
Badges: 4
Dex: Seen 78, Caught 38
Current location: Lavendar Tower (hoping I'll find a nice Cubone while I'm in here)

I don't know if there are three or four moonstones given to you, so I'm holding on to the third one until I can clone it. Accidentally used up one on a Clefairy before I remembered that the Nidos could be used. The ghosts are giving me the most trouble so far, even though I have about 8 or 9 levels over most of them. Wish I had more than one ground attack on my entire team. -_-

Nidorino, lv 31 (At=58 De=50 Spd=51 Spc=51)

I haven't really been working on it too much, I'm only in the middle of Silph Co. I'll update again if I ever finish the badges, and then again after capturing mewtwo. I haven't been able to find a cubone yet...

Name: Xarses
Game: Yellow
Goal: Electrics
Reason(s):I thought it might be a challange :p

So I get out my house, and go to the grass. Pikachu appears; oak

catces him; we go to gym; I battle Gary, you know that drill amirite?

I get my Pikachu and start sweeping kill off species left and

right. I go and train in Viridian forest. I go back and fight Gary and

kick his ass with my now level 15 Pika.

I got to first Gym with a level 22 Pikachu and beat Brock by

using Tail Whip + Quick Attack, tedious and took a couple of tries but

beat 'im in the end. :D

Get my badge and start sweeping thru the Route to Mt. Moon. Crush

everyone and continue sweeping. Beat Misty first (Thundershock ownt :censor:)

and then go up and fight my Rival, and sweep up thru the Nugget Bridge. I

get my S.S. Ticket and head down to Vermilian. I train up down there and

then head onto the ship itself.

It helped a lot with leveling and then, after beating my Rival

and talking to the Cpt. I get HM 01: The trusy cut. :)

I teach it to my Charmander, feeling bad for using a starter as

an HM whore and head up to the GYM, absolutely destroying. Body Slam (I

think I had) destroyed :censor:. Got up to the Lt. Surge and destroyed him as

well.

I rolled back up to Cerulean and started sweeping on the way to

the... :censor:, was it called Rock Tunnel? And on the way I catch a

Magnemite! I teach it T-Bolt, and begin the horrific journey through the

dingy Rock Tunnel. Since I had memorized it I didn't need flash, but I

blacked out a couple of time because of the Hickers. They're a tad hard.

:(

I finally exit, go over to Celadon and train there at the Rocket

place. I get Eevee and evolve it but realize it would take about 30

levels for it to learn an Electric move, which happened to be Thunder,

and I have :censor: luck with that move, so I said :censor: it and stored

Jolteon. I continue through the Rockets and eventually my Magnemite and

evolves.

After beating Giovanni I go back to Lavender Town and beat the

Rockets there too. I then get my Pokeflute and then remember I still

haven't beat Erika. So I go and do that!

She was actually kind of hard because of the fact she used

Pokemon that were a tad reluctant to be hurt by Electric moves. >.> But I

did beat her and recieved my fourth badge.

I then head down Cycling Road without a bike! If you just keep

attempting to go through while holding "right" it will allow you to pass

eventually. I go down to Fuschia and get surf, and all that. Then I take

on Koga :O

Koga was actually difficult just for the fact that his Venmoth

can do massive amount of damage to my "notreallytrained" Pokemon with

Psychic but I did destroy. I get my 5th badge and head back up to Saffron

to take on the Rockets and then Sabrina. I sweep through the building

skipping most of the Rockets and found that Gary was actually kind of

sort of easy. :P

I then take on Giavonni and found him a tad hard but do-able. I

get my Master ball and head to the Gym.

I go through and battle everyone in order to be able to get some

Exp, and had some fun. Then I reach Sabrina, after a heal up at the local

Pokemon Center and then head back. I beat, fairly easily actually. I took

advantage of Alakazam's weak defence after Paralyizing it. Body Slam ftw

^_^

I then use my Dodou, which I caught for fly, and fly to Pallet

Town and surf down, on my Lapras, to Cinnabar. I go through the Mansion

and get the key, and head back to the Gym. I destory using Thunderbolt

and head up to Blaine.

Blaine was easy just for the fact that I had Thunderbolt.

Arcanine actually took down my Magneton, but not a big loss. :p I recieve

my 7th badge, the finally one I need necessary for the 8th gym. :S

I save outside and turn off the game. Chillin for a bit :)

I'm not sure if I should make a new topic or post in here, I guess I'll just leave that up to WP.

Anyways, I decided to do normal because Raticate pwns. Duh.

I really don't feel like putting all the crap so I'll just cut to the chase and post my team. I just beat Erika, the 4th gym leader and am currently in search of a Kanghaskan in the Safari Zone.

Yeah, I'm doing currently three monotype challenges now. Why? Because I tend to get bored of one and play another, creating a cycle. Also, I got a Casio Commando last friday (one of those ruggedized smartphones) and downloaded a GBC emulator and got Pokemon Red. So yeah I've been playing a poison monotype challenge on it. The only thing that sucks is the fact that I really want Gengar but I can't get him on it because I can't trade.

I’m going to have to do something about that, too. Need art improvements and a programmer, though.

I could certainly help with the art part. Maybe I could do some of the sprites. One thing that I could work on is trying to fix the back sprites if you do use an RBY engine to build off of. Some of those back sprites look really really messed up.

Well I downloaded Pokemon Yellow on to my Android this morning so that I could start a new monotype challenge. Why Yellow? Because I lost my Pokemon Yellow so many years ago and I miss it. It was the first pokemon game I ever got, I remember I was about 4-5 years old and I got it and a Gameboy Color. Also, I found out that both Pinsir and Scyther are accessible on Pokemon Yellow... which made me really want to look into a Bug Type monotype challenge!

This time I'll try to update more often.

So anyways, I get pikachu and kick Gary's ass... blah blah blah. But when I was walking through the grass in the Viridian Forest, you won't believe what I saw. A CATERPIE! It was level 5, and I knew that I can't let this opportunity pass by, so I somehow managed to get lucky enough to capture this silly little larvae. I trained as if it was my own (it was now) and I ditched my level 7 pikachu to let it rot in the hard drive of a PC. It sucked anyways... my wormy kicked waaaay more ass. So yeah I went on a tackle binge until it evolved into oddly shaped chrysalis. I like to call it the penis pupae, since quite frankly, it looked just like one and had a strange ability to harden endlessly. Hmm... anyways, I only had to deal with this strange pupae for a few levels until... ZOMG BUTTERFREE. This pokemon was my first kickass pokemon when I was little. I used to think that Confusion was the best attack in the world (well until Psybeam came along hehe) but yeah, I then went on a Confusion binge, murdering all of the innocent little forest creatures and the trainers in the forest. After training forever, I managed to get a level 16 Butterfree. Holy cow, it's a pretty high level for not beating the gym leader yet. So I go in the gym leader and murder the poor rocks. They didn't stand a chance to my Uber Confusion-Sweeping Butterfree. So a venture along to see my next challenges (joke).

I travel down the route and basically OHKO all of the little pokemons. Confusion just was a wrecking ball, especially with my Butterfree's godly special stat. :lick: I then come across a cave, called Mount Moon. Interesting huh? Upon entering, I come across a few bats and floating rocks and find a crustation looking organism with some kind of fungus growing on its back. Maybe it's a spider? I don't know. But it looked pretty cool... and it's a bug type. :D So I caught the cute little joker and trained him up. Unfortunately his Scratch attack isn't as Uber as Confusion Butterfree, but Paras has a very impressive attack stat that did make Scratch pack a bit of a punch. I can't wait until he learns some STAB moves though.

Here's my progress:

TYPE: Bug
GAME: Yellow
BADGES: 1
TIME: 3:51

Paras lv. 17 (HP 44, Atk 35, Def 29, Spe 18, Spc 28)

Soooo yeah obviously I made it out of the Mt. Moon. It was easy, I totally sweeped the Geodudes with Confusion Butterfree and murdered some Zubats with Scratch Paras. It was pretty epic if I do say so myself. Pokemon were shaking with fear at the sight of my team. Oh and when I was leaving the Mt. Moon, I met some funky red headed chick and some weird smelly guy with blue hair. I kicked their asses. It was too easy. Anyways, I leave the mountain cave thing and hop down some ledges and find another TM that my bug pokemon probably cannot learn (Mega Punch) and arrive at a nice blue town called Cerulean City. I come across this bridge and kick my rival's ass then kick everyone elses asses on the Nugget Bridge. I beat the guy up at the end and steal a nugget of gold from him and sell it at the mart for some cash. Then... the most epic thing happened... I was walking in the grass... and a VENONAT appeared! A bug pokemon! :grin2: I caught that bad boy (girl?) and raised it as if it was my own. At first it sucked, but when it reached level 19... the most amazing thing happened. IT LEARNED CONFUSION! Sure... he (she?) wasn't as good as Confusion Butterfree... but still, it annihilated masses of pokemons. So I beat up all the people's pokemons and stole their lunch money then proceeded to beating up the gym leader. She was a joke. Her Starmie used Tackle... what a freaking newb. Needless to say, I embarrassed her in front of all of her friends in the gym then stole some of her money. So I head on to Vermillion City to continue my journey.

I killed all of the trainers around Vermillion City which was a bit of a chore but my pokemon needed the experience. After gaining a bunch of levels, I decide to get on a cruise ship even though I have no intentions of traveling (you'd think they would've given you the option to travel from Cinnibar Island to Vermillion City at least... well after you get Surf and all) and beat up the sailors and gentlemen on there. I even rubbed the captain's back. Well I got something good out of it I guess... then I proceed by murdering the third gym. Piece of cake. All I had to do was paralyze the Raichu and it was useless from there.

Went through the route toward the Rock Tunnel and through the Rock Tunnel... nothing too interesting except for the fact that my Paras and Venonat evolved! No bugs around though so it was a boring hike through the cave. Once I got to Lavender Town I rushed straight to Celadon City... to buy some coins at the game corner. ;) Pinsir and Scyther are both worth 6500 coins at the game corner, so it puts a whole new twist to the game, instead of having to progress through the game to get new pokemon for my team, I have to buy them. Since 50 coins is worth 1000 pokedollars, that means that each pokemon costs 130,000 pokedollars! I've almost got 6000 coins so far so I'm getting close to purchasing one (not sure which one first) but it's going to take awhile until I get enough money for the other one. I've been selling most of my valuables (TMs that my limited movepool pokemon can't learn, vitamins, some potions, etc.) and battling all trainers. I would play the game corner, but I don't know if it will really help or hurt. Anyways, I just defeated Giovanni and am about to beat every trainer I can before I battle the 4th gym leader.

So far...
