2004-2005 GHPF GSC Monotype Challenge

Post by MeLoVeGhOsTs » Sat 2005.Feb.19, 19:35

Yes it's back, for all who cared ;)

Rules:

~You play through either Gold, Silver or Crystal using pokemon of only one type (including Duel types who must share the chosen type)

~If your chosen starter is not of the type you picked, you are forbidden to use it.

~No matter how stuck you get you must not use any other types.

~You are allowed to use only ONE set of TMs in GSC and ONE in RBY.

~Trading for evolution is allowed (Machamp, Alakazam, Golem, Gengar). You may trade between GSC games, so long as you do so, when you reach the place said pokemon would naturally appear (ie, Paras at Ilex forest)

~After you pass certain events or feel the need to update, you reply to the topic with details on how your progress is going, the status of your team, how hard it is, etc.

~You may have only ONE member of a famly in your team. That means no duplicating a pokemon to fill your spots. No having two Pikachus to fill out your team.

~You are allowed to link if the pokemon's evolution requires linking. So Kingdra, Steelix, Scizor can be gotten early in game by trading. BUT you can't trade an onix, horsea, scyther, etc from another game so that you will have them in the start! The link is only approved when you have caught the pokemon in it's orginal habitat...

The challenge is considered complete upon the reaching, or defeat of Red(aka Ash).

Monotype Challenge!

Post by Superunknown » Fri 2011.Sep.16, 00:44

I noticed that the Monotype Challenge was for 2004-2005. A little outdated. I figured I would post up my monotype challenge and if anyone else is doing one, they can post theirs here as well.

My GSC Monotype Challenge Progress:
Fire
Water
Grass
Electric
Psychic
Ice
Dragon
Dark
Normal
Fighting
Flying
Poison
Ground
Rock
Bug
Ghost
Steel

For this challenge, I chose Psychic. :)

I don't feel like going through the storytelling part, I'll just post my progress.

Name / LUKE
Game / Crystal
Type / Psychic
Play Time / 8:35
Badges / 3

Drowzee lv.17
Image
-Pound
-Hypnosis
-Disable

Exeggcute lv. 25
Image
-Confusion
-Hypnosis
-Reflect
-Leech Seed

Slowpoke lv. 25
Image
-Surf
-Headbutt
-Curse
-Confusion

Smoochum lv. 26
Image
-Ice Punch
-Sing
-Confusion
-Sweet Kiss

So far this team has been doing fairly well. I did trade a level 5 Smoochum from my Silver at the beginning of the game and used it as my starter (it kept on disobeying me) then when I got to Azelea Town, I caught a Slowpoke. I then caught the Exeggcute in a tree near the Bug Catching Contest Park and caught a Drowzee near the Daycare Center. Now I'm at the Lighthouse training my pokemon.

Bite is an annoying attack. Growlithe and Meowth love to use it. It is the only attack that really threatens my team.

I plan on catching a Natu and a Girafarig. I really really really want a Xatu with drill peck, but that would mean that I would have to train a male Spearow to level 37 then do some breeding. I will probably give a male Spearow an EXP Share once I get it from Mr. Pokemon. I'm assuming that it won't be considered cheating (it would actually make the game harder.)

I added the original rules as put forward by MLG. We will have to contact him to get a ruling on the breeding for a move problem. Later, I think making the rules a sticky would be in order. Have fun. 8-)

Well even though nobody cares, I figured I'd update my team. :)

This is after the defeating Claire, the 8th gym leader.

Name / LUKE
Game / Crystal
Type / Psychic
Play Time / 20:31
Badges / 8

HYPNO lv. 35
Image
-Confusion
-Fire Punch
-Thunderpunch
-Hypnosis

EXEGGUTOR lv. 35
Image
-Confusion
-Hypnosis
-Reflect
-Leech Seed

XATU lv. 35
Image
-Drill Peck
-Leer
-Fly
-Night Shade

SMOOCHUM lv. 35
Image
-Ice Punch
-Sing
-Confusion
-Sweet Kiss

SLOWPOKE lv. 35
Image
-Surf
-Strength
-Curse
-Confusion

KADABRA lv. 35
Image
-Psybeam
-Fire Punch
-Thunderpunch
-Recover

Yeah this team is kicking some ass. The only thing is the fact that Confusion is kinda weak now, and most of these pokemon don't learn Psychic until they are in their 50s or so. So it kinda sucks. Other than that, it's been doing well.

OK, not bad. I forgot about asking MLG about the breeding question until just now.

Hopefully, he will reply. He unfriended me and left the GHPF Facebook group. Not sure why. He is still friends with Ametrine, IDL, and FB though.
